I prefer to report spammers, myself. Ignoring them all, even temporarily is a pro-active solution.
So your solution is for me to not have the trade channel to reach out to other people to sell stuff? Still not addressing the real problem where itâs not about me having to read your messages, but about you making me unable to send messages.
No, itâs better to just get rid of the children who have to spam it.
and RCR allows the same ignore while having the additional benefit of a squelch if enough people are annoyed. Once a GM reviews the squelched playerâs actions they can decide to further silence the individual. How on earth do you consider that to be âshort-sightedâ?

Obviously enough people that his post gets flagged and hidden within less than a minute.
Meh, I just tune out channels and only pay attention when I need them. I treat them as white noise. If I report, itâs for gold sellers or botters/exploiters.
RCR puts all the relevant information in a nice package with a bow on it for the GM. They do not need to go searching for the infraction.
RCR is it being addressed. I personally wish we had had this back in the day, as it would have nipped the idiocy of clogging up public channels in the bud.
It is me, I am the mod, posting on an alt trial account, because ~reasons~
Because you are circumventing a forum vacation in violation of the TOS, perhaps?
If you want to chat with only people who are like minded, use /g. /leave trade is a wonderful command I discovered years ago you antisocial bugger
People not educating themselves on what words are hurtful to a marginalized group of people is not a valid excuse for using said words.
Chuck Norris spam all you want. You call me anything slur thatâs related to my sexuality, whether you know that about me or not, or whether itâs aimed directly at me or not, and youâre gone. Same goes for any slur against marginalized groups.
I will go out of my way to get people banned for making others feel less than because of slurs.
Yeah. Almost instantly, really. Mid-day. In a thread with only a handful of active participants. Youâre right, though. Iâm sure thereâs a horde of lurkers in a niche thread in a niche forum just chomping at the bit to report things in the middle of a work day.
Yep youâre part of the problem⌠why is people joking a problem to you?
Great, champ. You should. 100%. Thatâs not what weâre talking about though. By âweâ, Iâm talking about those of us who are against RCR.
Itâs short-sighted when itâs weaponized against people. This is a social game, and there are cliques and guilds who can and will use any tool to their disposal against their critics or people they donât agree with.
What part of âpotential for abuseâ do you not understand about this? Do you not think that mob mentality is real? It occurs in-game frequently.
Nor did I say they need to go searching, but they are human and prone to not actually reading the information, even if itâs all in a nice pretty package for them.
GMs are human, they are tasked with reading through a lot of reports, less than in Vanilla, but still quite a lot. Do you really think they thoroughly read every packet of messages? Or do you think they are more prone to just agreeing with the mob and enforcing action?
Easily weaponized. Other thread seems to have disappeared, there was one discussing how to abuse this to silence guilds.
Yea good for you man. Virtue signaling a little bit? Thatâs not at all what weâre talking about when we are talking about abuse of right click reporting.
Just to be clear, there are absolutely 100% people who have explicitly stated to me in this thread and others that they donât like RCR because the might not be able to say the n word as much as they want to, and point blank refused to say racism was bad.
So yeah, I understand that there are rational people who have concerns about the potential this system has for abuse and how it could potentially impact access to the game for innocent people. Those arguments are worth discussing.
But on that same side of that argument are people who absolutely just donât want to be told they might experience consequences for being racist.
Rcr as a system is intended to limit disruptive communication and play. Iâm okay with a system that lets the community immediately push out people who want to all caps spam the n word and other epithets in the barrens general chat. The system isnât perfect, and maybe thereâs room to make it better. But donât pretend that some people donât like it for any reason other than they want the be deplorable racists with no consequences.
Standing in a shop and having a screaming match with your mate while people are trying to buy and sell things is fairly antisocial behavior is it not?
By the same token, if you donât want to get reported, try not using Trade for non-trade purposes. Iâve linked a blue post earlier in this thread where Blizzard has stated that chat use that disrupts the ability of other players to use channels for their intended purposes can be reported and punished as spam.
Why canât you use General, or guild, or party, or your own channel for these discussions?
