What the waffles is going on at Blizzard?

I’ve played wow since Vanilla, and have sub ever since with only a few breaks along the way. But I could only stomach 4 weeks of BFA’s waffels before I had to un-sub. It all really comes back to one thing, wow is no longer an MMORPG. I’m not sure exactly what to call it. It’s a single player game that takes place in the presence of other NPC-players.
