I would say that “kill yourself” isn’t an acceptable thing to say to people, and along with gold spammers is the primary thing I see using RCR for at least in my case.

i hate to use the term safe space but , online communities that include such a huge diverse population such as wow has shouldnt be a safe space.
its good to have your ideas questioned and challenged.
i would much rather blizzard not put in tools that one population can have the power to silence other parts of the population. only a blizzard employee should have that power so we know who to go to when weve been wronged.

“kill yourself” is not questioning any ideas or providing thought provoking conversation. I’m not a safe space type person but I still believe some things shouldn’t be acceptable.
I literally just said that I take part in debate groups. One is a conservatives vs liberals group. The other is an atheist vs christians type group. Believe me when I say that I’m all for the challenging of ideas. xD

all they need to do is 3 things.

remove auto squelch on all but the new rcr option “illegal services”

strictly punish anyone who abuses the new option to get someone auto squelched with the same silence the person reported would get.

put all tickets from rcr that wouldve been an auto squelch into a priority queue for GM manual review.
with those 3 things it would be acceptable to most people.

I think it’s still going to be possible to have conversation in general chat. In BFA I’ve spent 30 minutes standing ORG arguing pro choice vs anti choice with someone in trade chat. We both said things that could certainly be considered offensive. I never got any action on my account. Obviously I don’t know about the RWNJ I was talking to, but the conversation lasted long enough and he didn’t just abruptly stop talking so I don’t think he got squelched either. My experience with communication in wow with this system is that for general communication, it’s going to have to be pretty egregious for it to be squelched. Which most people agree is okay.
Thank you for pointing out what I have said from the beginning, the hypothetical situation that is all of the argument against RCR=squelch is rare to the point of it being a non-issue.
i know this might sound like fear mongering but i have a feeling about the type of people that classic is going to draw.
i think people will either be overzealous maniacs posturing on about micro agressions or what not OR they will be private server maniacs who bristle at the sight of anything bemoaning private servers OR (the most of the player base) will be cool people that are meh either way.
the maniacs wont be but 30% of the population if that but they will be in enough numbers to make a difference.
Lets be honest, do you seriously think someone from blizzard is reading comments like this and not thinking them dramatically absurd?
