I keep having issues with the right click mouse button while trying to rotate or turn character during movement. It is driving me crazy while fighting in WoW: Classic. I’ve turned off the only addon I had which was questie. It’s just me and the files, I have even just recently re-downloaded the game. Every file is fresh and untampered with. I’ve gone through all of the settings to see if there is something I can do to make sense of this issue and nothing.
I’m using a naga trinity mouse from Razer.
Edit*
Alright, after much deliberation and testing I finally figured out my issue. Also explains why I haven’t seen it prior. I decided to re-test on several other games. All have the same input issue. Decided to buy a brand new mouse (logitech G502 wired Hero). After installing the new mouse and testing on the game, the controls are as smooth as they once were.
I was using a Razer Naga Trinity mouse, It is only a year old at this point, year and some change. This was the issue unfortunately and nothing that was the game’s fault. But I had to be sure before I went out to buy a new mouse right?
What specifically is the issue that you’re having? Is it just not turning or is it intermittent? That might help to find the issue.
Turning off an addon can still leave residual effects behind. I’d recommend doing a Full UI Reset (be sure to follow the steps for Classic) and see if that helps.
Want to explain what a Full UI Reset would be for classic?
It chooses when to work, it doesn’t always work. Also, by pressing both left and right click down at the same time, the character should walk forward, also doesn’t happen all the time. I have to click, release, click, release, click, and then maybe it’ll work. Same for when I’m turning. I’m testing it right now to see what I can deduce could be the issue. I’m trying to just move forward and turn, and then strafing and turning with the right click. Just to see if there is a difference. It seems to, without fail, interrupt when I have something that can be interacted with, such as an enemy, or any other item in the game like a chair etc. Then it will shut down and not turn.
It’s in the link I posted It’s similar to a UI reset for Retail.
Definitely odd the way it’s so inconsistent. If the UI Reset doesn’t work, you might need to edit your first post and it should give you the option to move it over to Tech Support. They might be in a better position to provide advice in the event that it’s not a UI issue.
Here’s hoping that you can get it sorted out! I can only imagine how frustrating that would be!!
Since windows 10 was released, I have had a half-dozen hardware issues on various machines. 5 of them were due to windows 10/11 stealth driver updates.
Fo an optical mouse issue, I would also recommend spraying some windex on a paper towel and cleaning the light emitter and any part of the mouse that touches the desktop.
You may also want to check any macros you may have keybound, particularly mouse-over macros and those with a cast sequence or timer reset.
The addon Bugsack, can capture lua errors that wouldn’t normally show up in chat windows.
I can try the windex trick, that does make sense to me. However I don’t actually use any mouse-over macros or macros in general except for auto-attack start with some abilities.
I never have this issue with other games, just this one for some reason. I don’t even think shadowlands has this issue, just classic.
Edit* Just thought about it, part of the issue is movement with pressing both left and right click down, which wont always initiate moving forward. So I suppose there goes the idea of the windex (i did try it though, doesn’t hurt to clean it a bit) I’m starting to think this only happens because of the mouse I’m using has it’s own software that pretty much emulates anything it wants. I don’t edit it for the actual mouse buttons(right and left), but you could though.
