Ridiculous Rules

I decided to switch factions to join my friends, I also wanted to transfer to their server, I cant. My character is lvl 66 and he has too much gold, is this for real? I cant have more than 5k gold on my character in order to be able to switch servers? its not like its a free service too, I pay $25 for the transfer, now I get punished for being new to the game and buying a token.

This is pure nonsense Blizzard

I agree, the gold limit is dumb

The gold limits scale with your level. If you level a bit more then you can take more gold with you.

The next break point is level 71-80 where you can have a max of 20,000 for example.

The gold limit, I believe, is to help not destroy server economies. I could be wrong on that, it is just my personal opinion.

Know that the limit does go up as your levels go up as well. So if you grind the toon up, you can take more gold.

Or you can transfer a guild, and the guild bank goes with you. I believe there is no limit on the gold the guild bank could have, or if there is, it is higher.

This sounds all like a joke, im going to crash WoW economy with my 66 shaman.

Like I said, speculation on my part why they would do that. The limit was recently increased if I recall properly as well.

Like I said, it was my own personal speculation as to why the limits were there. Options were provided though. Take them, don’t take them. That is on you.

Or spend 20 dollars and get over 100k

They already spent $45 - $20 of which WAS for the token, from what I understand.

The gold limit is in place to prevent people who hack accounts from transferring all the gold on someone’s account to another server via a single paid transfer.

It may suck for legitimate customers who just want to transfer to play with friends, but it’s implemented for a very important reason.

Basically this. Just keep leveling or your other option is to sell pets on the new server to make the gold.

It’s another con to force you to buy a boost lol

Buy expensive pets on the AH, transfer, sell them on the AH, get money back.

This or other expensive AH items.

any surprise?
Not sure whats going on. I believe I took over 200k gold when I transferred a couple months ago

Seriously?
They can recover a stolen account easily enough…restore it.
No way Im buying that they are doing this about stolen digital gold that can easily be traced in game.
The logs know all.

When I transferred all my horde characters from the server on which I started to a new server, I used a guild bank to take all their gold with them. I had the bank alt guild anyway, but it wouldn’t be too much trouble to make one if you don’t have one. I piled all the gold into it and transferred the guild.

I don’t know if it’s still the case, but when I paid to transfer the guild, the transfer for the character that was guild leader was included.

This isn’t against the rules in any way either. I ticketed a GM and double checked how much gold could be transferred in the guild bank (for any normal person’s purposes: unlimited) and that it would not be a break of ToS. The GM told me all was good and my hordies happily settled onto their second server with no gold loss!

I hope you did your homework on this before you started shelling out cash.

The work around is this:

You do research on the server’s AH, of where you are going.

Then you do research on similar items on your server (mounts, for example.)

Then you buy what will probably sell for Equal or More, before the transfer, for the excess gold.

You want to do enough research to KNOW the items will actually sell, however.

The easiest way is to create a guild for your character and put the gold in that bank. Unlimited gold. The next method would be buying items on the ah and then selling them on the new server. However, do as Kypookins says and do your homework on items. You could end up losing gold or being stuck with items you don’t want.

That’s the crazy part of this. I can’t move the 100k earned.
