Doing pvp in stormsong with a group vs another group and they have a tauren. Someone thought it might be a toy or something, but mouseover says 120 tauren druid.

A transformation item sometimes label them as that race.

Could they have been using the toy that turns them into opposite faction? Or the new one that turns them into a random raid boss?

Many toys that change your appearance do change your mouseover description as well, could be a few different ones. Transmorpher Beacon, Coin of Many faces, etc…
It could be a toy, I have a few that when used, labels me as that particular race.
Though, these turn me into non playable races like ogres, broken, vrykul etc…
Have never seen a tauren one tbh.

Yeah, sounds like a toy.
I’ve never used it, but mercenary mode wouldn’t be distinguishable from a “normal” faction member. So it doesn’t create Alliance tauren. Toys can though. I’ve seen one that made the tooltip say “Naga” but IDK which toy that is.

You haven’t seen craziness until someone uses the braid and a bunch of prisms to turn your entire raid into Gamon.
…I don’t recommend doing this while learning Zek’voz.
