I’m talking strictly PvP here so please keep that lens in mind.
Unholy has been my main through feast and famine and trust me it is mostly famine.
I think it’s important to say I’ve consistently played unholy at a decently high lvl atleast in the PvP world.
DK sucks, and it sucks exceptionally bad when it competes with ret paladin for comps.
We keep getting reworks to move us forward but we really need to go backwards
In PvP combat clawing shadows should be necrotic strike, dread plague should tick hard and Gargoyle should be genuinely a terrifying cooldown. Soul reaper should pop 3 necrotic on the target and call it a day’
Defensively unholy should play selfish. Team AMS is cool on paper but we will never compete with ret on team utility so full send in personal defense
Ams big death strikes and dark sim baseline.
None of this would
Be hard to do it’s just PvP mods and changing the pv talent necrotic wounds to replace clawing shadows and prevent it cleaving

Dark sim baseline sounds great.
Bloodforged armor should replace Control Undead in the general tree and be buffed to 8 seconds.
Control Undead seems like it should be baseline like dark sim.
Life and Death should be more punishing.
Not sure about necrotic strike replacing clawing shadows, but whatever.

Dark Sim should be baseline like it was when it was first introduced, it really sucks having such amazing skill expression ability competing with some obligatory passive abilities that don’t change our playstyle but just give us raw player power. This has been an issue since BFA.
Necrotic Strike was amazing, and gave us more of a unique niche instead of just providing healing debuffs like everyone else. If everyone is doing the same thing then only one person can be “Best” at it, if we are doing slightly different things then there are situations where one is better than the other and vise versa.
Team AMS is really powerful, but I never felt like it fit death knights, and it sort of overshadows us using this cooldown to give ourselves more uptime, which means we get to play the game less but win more? It’s extremely powerful yes, but it’s never sat right with me. Not to mention the skill of knowing our team mate is about to get CCd and using AMS on them is just a simplified version of knowing when to us Dark Sim to CC the opponent’s spike damage.
I don’t like how much Unholy has lost it’s unique playstyle to become just another homogenous “melee class”. We should be more selfish, way better at self healing, and our group utility should come from using these tools to take aggressive positioning to disrupt the enemy team, not kiting people like a hunter or supporting people like a ret.

AGREEED ! So much to agreewith here . we are missing hte mark drastically in pvp
