Really happy to have read this, I’m actually excited for what’s to come,
“ Core Goals
-
Ensure each capstone is interesting and exciting.
-
Reduce the amount of throughput talents, to free up utility choices.
-
Reduce the number of ranks for talents that don’t warrant multiple ranks.”
Affliction,
Might finally receive a middle ground for its AoE and Single Target’s, and looks like Malefic Rupture getting some tuning/adjusting. Darkglare rework incoming?.
Demonology,
Looks like Doom is becoming our S3 tier bonus, which actually might see it played, plus another Demon to summon is the icing on the cake.
Destruction,
Cataclysm and Soul Fire going to get changes too. Curious to see multi targeting changes.
Eager to see these changes when they are put forward, how will the talent trees look, but it’s actually good to see some Feedback from the devs.

I’m sticking with my usual state of guarded optimism. It seems like they see some of the major challenges with the class. Lets see if their changes make things better or worse.

I hope that they take a look at fire and brimstone, it used to be good and made destro aoe more fun. Swap pyrogenics with cata or just get rid of pyrogenics. Classes in general should get at least one AOE spell baseline so maybe destro will get rain of fire.
Aff could lose siphon life and that alone would be great, but maybe look at soul swap again. No one uses it but gets taken for pathing. I liked it at the beginning of DF and then they decided to kill it.

On paper, this sounds fantastic. They are addressing a number of common complaints that I’ve seen for each spec and warlocks as a whole.
Obviously we will have to wait and see how this actually turns out, but I like what they’ve put down as their goals

Personally they could remove both and Affliction will be way better off.
100000% agree to all, I’m just more excited that they’ve actually communicated and recognised a lot of the issues we’ve been stating for a long time now.
Once we actually see the changes things will be more clear, but if they hit the nail on the head and hit a home run, I’ll be over the moon.
My one concern with the post was “ reduce the amount of resource flooding.” for Demonology, I’m worried this means go back to Shadow Bolt spamming, I particularly enjoyed Season 2 when we had a abundance of Demonic Core Procs felt great and smooth.

This, sounds promising, especially if they’re referring to the Warlock Tree capstones.

“We have tuned Malefic Rapture out of existence.”
If only.

Malefic rapture is utter garbage. Please remove it!

??? Its used plenty in keys and on quite a lot of bosses in raid.
As a Demonology warlock my biggest ask is that Nether Portal gets a heavy rework. I enjoy the concept, but it’s always been an awkward talent. Super glad that they’re mentioning warlocks getting something more than a glorified tuning pass though.

From logs I’ve seen Soul Swap really never used in keys, but I see it used in Raids on certain fights, but moving forward with all the changes it may not necessarily be needed.
We have to wait and see how the tree ends up looking like and the direction they taking Affliction, I’m excited to see what nodes they convert to 1 point nodes to see if it frees up points to be used elsewhere.
“ We want to redesign, introduce, and remove talents ”, so we have to see what’s new, changed and removed.
I’m assuming since they want to make capstones more interesting and exciting, Darkglare will be getting a new coat of paint or possibly replaced entirely.
For removed Talents/redisgn, I’m sure Agonizing Corruption will definitely be looked at.
Malefic rapture still in, looks like another expac of demo and destro

Sadly from the interactions Soul Harvester has with Malefic Rapture it doesn’t look like it be going anywhere soon, Hellcaller not so much as it says for Soul Shards spent meaning any replacement essentially could work.

Thank god. The warlock capstones and the most boring of all classes, especially on the left-hand side.

No one really logs keys but it is definitely used when priority targets are involved and for raids it was used on quite a lot of fights. Also Seed spam drowns out its use since you have to drop a point in SF for it.
Vault post SS redesign
Eonog
Sennarth
Dathea
Kurog
Rasz (phase two only once so you can argue it wasn’t needed there)
Aberrus
Amalgamation (when the two minis merge it counts as a new target so you don’t have to waste 5 gcds re dotting)
Forgotten Experiments
Zskarn
Echo
Amidrassil
Council
Larodar
Nymue
To say its not used is not true.
Looks like rapture is going to be sticking around. Better luck in 12.0, haters.
Good news that they’re aware of Aff’s biggest problem. Can’t wait to see what they’ve got in store for all three specs. I feel like most of the reworks in DF were pretty great and I hope they keep the streak going.

But I agree it’s used in Raids on certain fights, I never said it wasn’t, you listed raids and particular encounters, which I completely agree with. 100% with you on that
.
Soul swap is particularly good on bosses who refuse to stack together to let you spread SR/VT to a distant target. Like the trio in Everbloom.
It’s niche, but pretty good for when that specific situation comes up.
ID and SF being two point nodes is more of an issue than Soul Swap. Change that and its very easy to path around it if you do not want to take it.

I was just about to mention ID, I remember you bringing that up in a previous thread, and I think you are right and it may be changed to a 1 point node, possibly same with SF like you have mentioned.
If this does happen, it’s good to see they have been listening. Although I do think ID needs a little “oomph”. But I think you may be correct.
