Warrior Class Rework
I bring ideas to improve the class I love and have been following for ages, Blizzard has over the years made / does great reworks in classes or specializations but has stopped doing the same with warriors.
We have as a major example of this the current expansion that took skills from a specialization and played for everyone, thus taking away that special feeling of being a protection warrior. The aim is not to make the warrior broken or anything like that, it’s just to revamp a class that has been mistreated for years.
Specializations and Class Lore
When you create a warrior you want to imitate the feats of the great ones of Lore like Varyan sacrificing himself against the legion, Broxigar jumping at Sargeras, Saurfang in his endless battles, but that is not what we find in the game.
In fairness the only Specialization that has this special feel and flavor is Fury, the others do not pass anything. So let’s get down to business by dealing directly with the Specializations and suggested improvements.
Other Small factors that can be added that would improve this feeling and class differentiation would be things like for Horde warriors Screaming for Alliance Warrior Banners, the same skills, but having different visual effects just to add flavor to the class.
Arms
The arms warrior should feel like a medieval champion, an arms expert of all types and sorts who forgo using brute force to get their stuff with skill and dexterity and the main one always using the right weapon for each situation. I think it would be very interesting for this specialty to have the possibility of using a two-handed weapon as a primary and a one-handed weapon as a secondary, as many types of famous warriors have done throughout history, for example the Samurai who used a Katana and a smaller sword, I believe that this way we would begin to better define the fantasy around specialization and differentiate it clearly from the other two.
Fury
The only one in terms of lore in a state of grace. Using two handed weapons in both hands or 2 one-handers weapons and going out like a freak going down the strain on the mobs has always been and always will be wonderful and has the perfect fit with the lore proposed in the specialization .
Protection
We should feel like warrior protectors specializing in using shields to protect and attack and not one lighting rod (thunderclap spammers), so giving back the exclusivity of some skills to specialization is essential.
- Class Skills
Known as the Essential Kit of every class Essential skills that every warrior is supposed to have, It is clear that the Screams / Banners become the signature spell of the entire class, just as each class has its own or the warriors have their own.
Banners / Shouts what we see most throughout the countless expansions are the Horde warriors Screaming and going to combat and the Alliance warriors reacting with Fervor when they see their battle banners raised, then it makes this visual differentiation complete and total sense that will add feel and flavor the class.
SKILLS ANALYSIS AND CRITICISM
- Lvl -1 Slam: Make it work like the old Heroic Strike (in the swing of the attack) will be infinitely more useful for the class as a whole and the main one will be a usable skill.
- Lvl - 2 Charge: Together I would learn Intervene.
- Lvl - 3 Shield Slam: Another skill that doesn’t make much sense for every warrior to have, it’s okay that the possibility of equipping a shield and hitting someone is really cool, but in my view it totally takes away the flavor of being a protection warrior when everyone starts to use shields, my suggestion is to learn Rend, something much simpler than every warrior should be able to put their enemies to bleed in addition to being a mechanic of easy introduction by the class.
- Lvl - 4 Hamsting: along with Howl Piercing
- Lvl - 5 Victory Rush: Replaced by Impeding Victory thus giving a lesser active defense cooldown with the possibility of reset, however it would not put a healing effect and if life increase is similar to Last Stand but less something around 15% of life , because of this change throughout the WoW Lore we don’t see warriors healing or taking pots and the like, we simply use our willpower to overcome obstacles so the temporary increase in life has an effect similar to healing but following the lore of class.
- Lvl - 6 Shield Block: Again ability that was exclusive of protection now spread across the entire class making you lose the feeling of being a warrior protection, if the idea is to increase protection or give a situational button it would be much better to give Demoralizing Shout to all the class.
- Lvl - 7 Pummel: Okay.
- Lvl - 9 Whirlwind: Okay.
- Lvl - 10 Execute: Ok.
- Lvl - 14 Taunt: Along with Challenging Shout.
- Lvl - 17 Ignore Pain: Ok.
- Lvl - 24 Heroic Throw: Ok.
- Lvl - 29 Berserker Rage: Okay.
- Lvl - 33 Heroic Leap: Ok.
- Lvl - 34 Intimidating Shout: It would change by forcing 1 enemy unit to be confused (being able to fight on our side, if it hit or hit us) for 8 seconds and the rest to be in fear in the same place making this ability much more useful and usable giving possible to class.
- Lvl - 39 Battle Shout: It would do the same things as Avatar, thus giving a sense of skill and an increase in damage to the whole class giving more freedom to skills within specializations and talents.
- Lvl - 41 Shattering Throw: Ok.
- Lvl - 43 Intervene: Substitute for Disarm thus increasing the survival of the kit and returning a warrior’s ability.
- Lvl - 46 Rallying Cry: Ok.
- Lvl - 47 Spell Reflection: a skill that should simply be exclusive to protection warriors specializing in using shield and defense in this way would be a much better protection cooldown to give Die by the Sword to the entire class.
- Lvl - 54 Challeging Shout: War Banner in place plus a situational skill for the class.
In this way, the Skills by class level would become as follows.
- Lvl - 1 Slam: Works as a Heroic Strike.
- Lvl - 2 Charge and Intervene.
- Lvl - 3 Rend.
- Lvl - 4 Hamsting and Piercing Howl.
- Lvl - 5 Impeding Victory: Last Stand Minor
- Lvl - 6 Demoralizing Shout.
- Lvl - 7 Pummel.
- Lvl - 9 Whirlwind.
- Lvl - 10 Execute.
- Lvl - 14 Taunt and Challenging Shout.
- Lvl - 17 Ignore Pain.
- Lvl - 24 Heroic Throw.
- Lvl - 29 Berserker Rage.
- Lvl - 33 Heroic Leap.
- Lvl - 34 Intimidating Shout: With the change of confusion and fear in place
- Lvl - 39 Battle Shout: Avatar Effect.
- Lvl - 41 Shattering Throw.
- Lvl - 43 Disarm.
- Lvl - 46 Rallying Cry.
- Lvl - 47 Die by the Sword.
- Lvl - 54 War Banner.
