Clearly you refuse to delete this useless ability since it’s an iconic ability that has been part of our kit since Vanilla. So why leave it how it is as a useless button that nobody ever presses? I have played Destro since cata and for about 95% of that time it has been a completely dead skill.
Just make it heal like 30% of your max hp and put a 1 minute cooldown on it (maybe 2 charges?).
It’s not like it’s a difficult ability to prevent/ interrupt. I think if you manage to pull off a 3 second channel without getting interrupted, you deserve 30% of your max hp back. And putting it on 1 min cd means it won’t be spammed/ abused.

At this point it feels like it is removed as the healing it does now is trash.
Just rework mortal coil to replace is and bake in the fear talents or something since I’m saved by that more the life drain. Also doesn’t help this shift in mentality “we need to make healers relevant” They should be but not in a way that cripples a lot of classes on world content where everything is doing a lot of damage and infecting you with many dot based curses and poisons and magics.

Why tie a new defensive to a channeled spell that does no damage?
Might as well just make it an instant cast like every other class/defensive.

30% max hp heal on a 1 min cd, why tie it to garbage drain life? Might as well make that an instant button and just delete drain life, it serves no real purpose anymore.
Why do you think warlock needs more instant cast healing on top of dark pact, soul leech and healthstone? At least drain life has counterplay, warlock is already tanky enough.

Don’t you think having an ability that does nothing is kind of strange? I would be fine with them removing it completely but clearly they don’t want to.
On another note, I got a 7 day game suspension for calling other players “clown” in solo shuffle. I think that’s against the rules.

Life drain really needs to be fixed, Im convinced its bugged and not applying the correct healing modifier. if its not bugged it seriously needs to be buffed. pretty much every other class right now has crazy amounts of on demand healing.
Honestly, i’m glad drain life is bad. In fact i hope they remove it completely.
Understanding what the sustain budget is means that in order for drain life to be good something else has to be nerfed.
I don’t want to tie our sustain into such a poor form of survivability like channeling an easily interruptable spell that serves no function for our throughput.
Not only do you have to sacrifice throughput to cast drain life but you also have to avoid interrupts and it can never be strong so long as soul rot drain cleave exists. So its better to just remove it completely.
If warlock needs a sustain buff then they could buff our soul leech/siphon life.
Sounds like you want every class to be exactly the same, everything insta-cast, everything with an interrupt, self heal, wall, and mobility package

Drain Life is seriously worthless now.
That’s just the reality of our current situation, i would love if class design went back to the old ways where every class had its niche, but that would only work if everything gets changed.
By opting to copium and buffing drain life we would only end up gimping ourselves when faced with the modernization of the game and the fast paced combat, it’s just not viable to go for things based on flavor anymore sadly.
By your logic, eventually they will just remove interrupts altogether because channel = bad and casting = bad and everything should be instant
Getting off drain life as destro is ez, you have 3 schools to cast from, precog, and 2 spells that block interrupts. Casting has never been easier. This boring game design of slowly making everything instant is just lazy.
Outplay potential = fun, precog = fun, having to actually think about what buttons you press is fun. Everyone becoming the same class with max mobility, self heals, cc and defensives is really dull

It’s just exactly that, turbo speed gameplay is shifting the game to instant casts, it is slowly happening tbh, very few classes ( mostly locks) retain the old style of hard casting, most casters have stuff they can do on the move.
All classes besides lock have instant spenders, chew on that for a sec.
When warlock is the only class without a modernized design then it’s troublesome, some pve and pvp alike have been designed with mobility in mind, there’s no room left for turret gameplay.
This might not seem like a big deal if u r a casual that prefers to do solo content but all of the endgame in wow is based on punishing idle gameplay, gotta keep moving!
So you see adding a stronger drain life would be counterintuitive with the design philosophy that blizzard has chosen for combat. It might be a splash of cold water in the face of those filled with copium but alas , it is the truth.

Yep! Except everyone else is hunter-like but locks, which is the issue.
The issue lies in combat design, if everything’s about speed and mobility then class get designed around that.
