Reviving SOD for Phase 6 and Rogue threat opinion

I’ve been looking at a huge decline in interest on SOD since Phase 5 and the announcement on phase 6 and AQ just amplified the disinterest, at least in my guild. We are all borderline raid logging (Late people, no show and stuff). This is painful to see and would like to see the actual plan for Phase 6. Is there any new discoveries or are we bound to the same raid band-aid and call it done? The interest will plummet if nothing is done soon.

Also I’ve been struggling with my rogue tank and its threat. It seems to me that Unfair Advantage is a huge part of our threat generation and shouldn’t be the case. Losing Threat (and not getting hit) on bosses means that our threat is down really bad by about 15%. Too many times another tank didn’t watch his threat and ended up tanking the rest of the fight with me no where close to being able to compete with threat. So for a fight like Chromaggus where taunt is not useable it is impossible for me to take him back. This not only happen with other tanks but DPS too and nothing can be done other than taunt.

Now that we don’t do any damage and the threat cannot be relied upon. It is hard to say that rogue tank is good or even on par with the others. We don’t talk about aoe threat either… The only good thing is the avoidance but even that has it’s limits (Because I’m sure Devs will not give us 100% avoidance).

I would like to rediscover my rogue tank in a good way and not by nerfing it another 20% this time… More damage is more in line with the rogue theme, imo.

good luck us rogue tanks get no love compared to every other tank (lock tanks got it bad too) our main issue is as you said threat but buffing the damage is a band aid fix long term there needs to be a bit of a rework also yeah us not having aoe threat is enough alone that most people will NOT allow rogue tanks in raids even if threat was fixed… they had a solution in p2 with spamable shuriken toss but yeah fun detected
a lot of guildies were qqing about “rogue tanks arent supposed to be raid viable because they werent in og classic” copout when they fixed shamans and pallies also druid tanks are solid as hell now too but i will say overall they did a very good job on all other tanks besaides lock or rogue tanks sadly
the biggest threat fix is thunderfury sadly

not sure what issue you guys are running into but I MT as a rogue for my raid and have had little issues…i run a warlock tank as other tank, he handles aoe packs, and i handle boss fights…we are not ment to be gods at everything. Rogue single target TPS is probably the best in the game right now. So unless you are fighting for threat vs a lock tank on a fire vul chromag, you shoudl not have a problem with threat. AOE threat is not a rogue tanks job. but if you want to work on it and do better aoe threat, go get 4 piece darkmantle and the ZG trinket. you can then spam fan of knives and wont loose threat on any aoe packs…best of luck boys.

Tanking as level 11 is different than tanking as level 60

i mean its kinda hard to help you because you haven’t logged much. last record shows Oct 12 and you were missing world buffs the whole raid and had very spotty use with cooldowns.

I gave up on the rogue tanking dream. It just seems so poorly set up design wise, and it comes across as you needing tier gear before you can even tank the bosses that drop said gear. Not a fan when a spec seems so deliberately handicapped at every turn.
