While I am a huge fan of some of the mounts, toys and transmogs this game has to offer, I do not think it is healthy for the game to have players “playing” the game by afking at a rare’s spawn for 40 minutes to an hour and a half. I also understand that Blizzard wants players to not quit playing the game, but lets be realistic here…How long would it take a single person to obtain everything in the game from scratch? A lifetime for some players, myself included. As long as the content is interactive, and has a linear path to obtaining rewards, players will not stop playing because they can slowly pick at the content they want to clear to receive rewards. This would also be a way to revive old content which for newer players like myself (legion-baby) is literally dead and we will never get to re-live it. So here are my thoughts…
A Mythic + system for dungeons and even raids if they wish to implement it of each expansion with bosses having loot tables of toys and transmogs from their respective expansion. A weekly chest just like the current one where you receive a chunk of collector’s tokens similar to current Titam Residium, which could then be spent on NPCs who sell all mounts from their respective expansion. Currency would be exclusive per expansion, meaning you cant just farm Classic dungeons and buy MoP mounts with it. Each expansion would have their own weekly chest. If on top of the currency at the end of the week something else wanted to be added, that’s fine as well, but not necessary. Difficulty of dungeons would match the current’s expansion Mythic + difficulty.
I know some people are going to highly dislike this because it takes away from the rarity of mounts, but it doesnt have to be where you get a mount every two weeks. Make the weekly reward something like 3,000 tokens for a +15 of whatever dungeon, and make mounts expensive. Something like 30,000 for a not so rare mount, and maybe 90,000 for more rare mounts. Obviously numbers could be adjusted to what Blizzard would think is reasonable. This would allow players to go back to old content that they maybe enjoyed while being able to work on something they’ve wanted for years and have never had the luck to get. You could even make it to where it takes 4-6 months of weekly chests to be able to buy ONE expensive mount, and a lot of players would prefer doing it through this content because they know its guaranteed at the end of the journey, rather than farming for years knowing that they may never get the mount. For those that think this will ruin rare mounts… I do not think being able to obtain ONE rare mount every 6 months is unhealthy for the game. The whole point we play is to be rewarded, not to feel like we may never get something because we simply are not lucky. Players can still farm the mounts they want on their free time, but just have something guaranteed on the side, even if at the end of 6 months. A lot of us dont have the time to keep up with current content and also farm old mounts, and i feel a system like this could be the start to making all of World of Warcraft relevant. Something i’m sure a lot of players would like to see.
So… You want to make mounts like ashes of al’ar to be on a weekly chest…
Yeah that’s called black market AH
The mount drops are 1% or less because old content is old content
Not veteran’s fault you weren’t around when legion, or any legacy expansion was patch content.
You get the mount 100% drop because you took part of said raid at content, that’s the reward
Nothing out of the chest but currency.
isn’t this basically time walking? you just want to add raid/dungeon mounts to the vendor?
That’s what I said
You wanted mounts to be under a weekly chest, via currency
That’s the lazy way out
Blizzard is kind enough to let us still farm the mount, rather not remove it
Farm the mount, if I can farm 1% or less drops items like eye or Sulfuras, illusion exclusive DK enchant from lich King, so can anyone else
Yes, but no. Because you would be able to access any expansion at all times. Not time gated by the weekly event. And each expansion would have different currencies so you cant farm classic and get a cata mount for example. Plus the content would actually be challenging, not like Timewalkers. So it feels like you earned it, not just watched netflix while pressing a few keys.
Yeaaah. This is a bad place to suggest something like this, folks really love feeling special in MMOs and you’re suggesting Blizzard makes it easier to obtain those special things.
I don’t think it’s a bad idea personally. I’ve been saying for years that they should add some type of syncing system for old content, like FF14 has. It’s basically timewalking but it doesn’t have time limits on it. I’m not at all a fan of M+ though so I wouldn’t be thrilled with that part.
Okay, but im not saying we shouldnt have to farm. But whats wrong with having ONE guaranteed mount that we want at the end of 6 months of work? ONE mount. You can even make the weekly chest account-wide so you cant farm on multiple toons. You can only get ONE weekly chest per account. Im sure theres ONE mount out there you’ve farmed for months if not longer that you wish you could just not worry about as much because you know by working your way into high Mythic + you could get it in half a year.
I’d be down for bringing some of the older dungeons up to date, even if just Legion’s where they already were set up for M+.
Not as into the idea of the currency/tokens/anything mount related. Just like the idea of more/better dungeons. BfA’s are some of my least favorite so far.
I would just like them to bring back old content and make it as challenging as it once was. I suggested it this way because I figured this would be a way to get people to actually play the content.
Gives us more to do, too.
Yeah. It doesn’t have to be the rewards i chose. But it has to be something that’s worthwhile doing. Plus… I think Mythic + Deadmines would be pretty fun.
the problem is not all dungeons were created equal prior to legion and bfa
you had long ones, you had short ones, you had complex ones you had brain dead ones.
mythic + wouldnt work for them
whereas legion and bfa had dungeons custom tailored to mythic + systems
mob density, map layouts etc

Yeah, i can see that being an issue. But like i said in one of these earlier replies. It doesnt have to be anything that i suggested. Im throwing my mind out there, just trying to find ways to get the developers to create content that’s as challenging as our current content, but to old areas of the game. I didnt get to play during those expansions, so it’d be nice for it to be current again and challenging like im sure it once was.

but its not always up. That’s like taking Ny’alotha and its here one week and then gone for 3 weeks… Is the content actually here? What if i couldnt play that week for whatever reason. I gotta wait a month almost to be able to do it again…? idk that doesnt feel good to me as a player.
