The Revival Catalyst is finally here after 6 weeks. I haven’t even seen one piece of tier in 6 weeks of farming Mythic Plus. I think this system is absolutely garbage. I’ve been gatekept for 6 weeks with no tier gear because this system is holding me back.
I logged in today. Picked a piece of tier for being over a 2K rating, because I had to hold off on picking this because I didn’t want to pick a piece and then get that same piece from the vault. I picked the helm because my helm was still a 421, then upgraded it as far as it would go, and then swapped my hands over to a tier using Revival Catalyst because they were 447 item.
Is this system fun? Is it fun waiting 6 weeks or more to see one single-tier piece? No, it’s not. They have to change this ugly system for mythic plus only players, and this probably affects pvp players too.
6 weeks of no tier, and as soon as they release it I can just pick my 2 piece. Sorry, this is not a fun system and they seriously need to rethink gatekeeping tier like this. What do you think?

I feel like, if you are being truthful, and filled your vault by doing keys only and never received a single choice for tier out of 15 vault options over these 6 weeks you are in the minority of players .
That being said, I do agree there should be another path for M+ only players to get tier. I’m sure they will figure something out as they have been making improvements on the loot system early and often. Any recommendations?

Its a terrible system that hasn’t been good since it was made. The fact that they haven’t improved this system to provide one tier piece per week right away from week one is simply poor.

Why do you think they want everyone to wait 6 weeks? What would you say is the counter argument to those who would like catalyst released immediately with the raid?
The catalyst is that path. The problem with mythic plus is that people complained too much over the years it diminished the value of raiding, while on the other end people just wanted mythic plus to be its own thing and not require raiding.
Blizzard has been trying to balance that out ever since. Honestly with release of catalyst raiding also gets devalued a fair amount which is why its one of the reasons it has a month wait.

It’s a terrible system because its borrowed power trash and you cant select the stats you want on the gear.
I’d prefer a system where the game just allows you a few extra talent points to put into passives each season
I disagree. Raiders tell people all the time to do M+ for a good piece of vault gear. I dont think thats any different than telling M+ players to kill a boss or 2 for a piece of tier gear.
Tier has been made so accessible with this patch alone its literally not an issue

I don’t believe you answered the question. I’m not sure why you quoted the question here. I’m interested to hear what you think about it though. I was asking, why do you believe the developers decided to have everyone wait 6 weeks to use the catalyst? I’m not sure if it was stated somewhere, but if not I’m curious as to what the motivation could be.
If the answer was that tier is so accessible they made us wait 6 weeks, that wouldn’t make sense because it’s so accessible they might as well just open it up immediately, right? Or since it’s so accessible, they might as well make it 12, weeks or remove it all together no?
They state it so often i just assume its a joke whenever its asked at this point. Its not meant to be the main gearing pathway. Its meant for catchup.
100 percent. One month is not really that long. We still have 10.1.5 coming around and that will last easily another 3 to 4 months.
Plenty of time to get full tier even if ur insanely unlucky. I know for several of my toons got their first tier piece today or their 2 piece.

For the record, as far as tier is concerned, the gods have been good - in just trying to see where the viewpoints are coming from
And 1 piece guaranteed. People only technically have to look for 3 with the current system.
I expect everyone who didn’t have their 4p to jump 9 key levels after getting it since it’s been the reason holding them back from greatness.

Can’t speak for all my healers yet but for preservation evoker at least the 2piece is glorious and definitely boosts capability by like 2 key levels.
By not raiding ( at all ) you not only lost out on any tier items you could have rolled on but you also lost out on 3 more vault choices each week - and some of those choices most likely would have been the tier pieces you wanted due to those items being solely from the raid loot pools. That was your choice. If your tier is that powerful you would have just compromised and got a mix of normal and heroic tier by raiding and using your 2k rating token, then used the catalyst to upgrade hero quality items you collected in the first few weeks and swapped them in - like most of us are doing/have done. You gimped yourself bud.
Looks like the catch up mechanic for people like you who don’t do the content tier drops from is working as intended. You will have your full tier by next week or the week after because of the catch up.
If you don’t actively raid don’t expect raid/tier items to be handed out the first few weeks till catch up’s are activated.

Random solution that I think could work, the tokens you get to choose sockets, make it so you can exchange 6 of them for a catalyst charge, but lock the auto catalyst charges for 6 weeks still. Now if you don’t get tier in m+ vault, you pick token and turn a piece into tier, you don’t get the ilvl boost of obtaining a 447 that week but as long as you do 8 m+ a week you can have the option of 4 set by week 3 with the 2k token.
So I just got my 5th teir set on Tuesday. I am not a hard core person due to numerous health issues. My issue is deciding on the the 5th or a different item.
