Revival catalyst charges

I haven’t used either charges on several of my alts, yet they all show that I only have one charge on each of them. I’m hoping it’s a visual bug, but I don’t have anything worthwhile to upgrade on them.

Either I’m missing a charge on my alts, or there’s a visual bug only showing one charge.

I’ve done all relevant quests, and have used two charges on two separate characters.

The Revival Catalyst interface only shows the cost of a single item conversion into a tier set item. It is not a tracker for the amount of charges your character has available. As long as a charge shows as available, you will be able to convert an eligible item into a tier set item. If you are out of charges, the interface will show there are no more available charges with a red number 1.

Is the quest only doable once a week? If I go run it on a second character does it unlock a second charge for all of them?

This was the only character I needed the charges on, but I did the quest and only got 1 charge.

Bit confused. Help, Coach Steve! I need your guidance once more!

Real talk, why would it not show how many charges a character has? The original catalyst worked that way and I guarantee the functionality was intended to be that way again. Which is why I’d assume its a bug and properly reported.

I can’t believe the support article on this issue.

  1. Shadowlands catalyst told us how many charges we had left.
  2. Even if there was truth in the support article, clearly the community WANT to see how many charges they have.
  3. We have a maximum of 6 charges, and beyond that without spending them on transmog they are being wasted.

Just put a bloody tracker on the forge how hard is it?!

I’ll add my name to the list for “why can’t we see how many charges we have?”

Seriously, if click the charge icon in the catalyst console it opens your currencies tab. Clearly someone thought about this and it’s been planned for, but remains unfinished. I get that we’ve been reading, “working as intended” for 19 years now, but c’mon.

Good info, thanks.

I was going to pipe in on the OPs observation, but I’m glad I read further. Seems to be an odd change from precedence.

It’s actually not true. I ran out of charges but found out when I clicked and got red text on the button.

Also of note, if you click on the small icon next to that 1, it opens your currencies tab. Seems someone thought to include that functionality like we’d be able to see our currency for feeding this machine in the tab designated for it, but it was never implemented fully.

They made this system way more confusing than it needed to be.

Maybe intentionally? Who knows.

All things being equal, the simplest answer is usually the right one.

I’ve been playing this game since the Vanilla launch, albeit with a few long breaks in between, and have been in the IT industry for nearly 25 years. Life experience tells me the simplest answer here is that a ball got dropped and Blizzard isn’t fessing up that “yes, it’s not supposed to be like this, we’re sorry, and it’s on our list of things to fix.”

There are several WeakAuras that can display your charges on each character. Search “catalyst charge” on the WA site to find various options. Tama’s Dragonflight helper is what I already use that shows mine, but there are others just for the charges. I agree the in-game display should show it, though.

This needs to be addressed. I understand that apparently it’s supposed to only show if you have a charge available or not but that’s objectively stupid. It just is.

I haven’t been converting gear because I thought this was broken and that I only had one charge. Please fix this so people can use this without digging through forum after forum trying to figure out why this is broken.

As dumb as this sounds, I resorted to using an addon that will just show you how many charges you actually have.

Yeah Blizzard plz fix because this is beyond dumb.

Sorry, but that’s just not true. This is a visual bug.

Blizzard Support disagrees.

@Coachsteve was literally quoting the support article.

It’s working as designed, no matter what you think of it. QA won’t pass on bug reports that they know are complaints about intentional design choices.

You’ll need to submit a suggestion in a non-Support forum like General Discussion or use the in-game feedback tool.

A macro to check your charges:

/run local n=(C_CurrencyInfo.GetCurrencyInfo(2167).quantity or 0)print(string.format(“You have %d Catalyst Charge%s Available”,n,(n==1)and"“or"s”))

Not my creation, just passing on.
