Revisiting Forest Trolls

Unless those “races” get in the way of the leadership YOU like. Then they need to know their places as just accessories of that leader, or its fine that that leader slaughters their own people for personal power grabs. And not one of the leaders you like (of those that have actually commented on them) were actually genuine about their Alliance hate. It was all just cheap lipservice for their own personal ambitions. And NONE of these leaders would be caught dead cooperating with one another. Hell, Magatha was essentially a Tauren supremicist herself. She didn’t like any of the other Horde races any more than the Alliance ones.

You’d rather they be warmongering Native American caricatures. Oh joy.

What I find odd about the Tauren is they did the Highmountain pretty well. Yeah a tribe of water, fire and sky isn’t going to win any creativity awards but tropes are tropes for a reason.

Characters were varied enough to be fun, giant bald eagles are cool, and you had the Ebonhorn reveal which is one of the few times I’ve been pleasantly surprised in WoW.

Then we get to BFA and Baine’s just kind of an idiot. Seriously the quest where you rescue Derrik is hilarious. It’s set up like a stealth mission before Baine just kicks in the damn door. That so should’ve been Voss. And the Tauren in general get basically nothing to do.

I think the Highmountain set up a secret base in Drustvar you unlock some ways into the war campaign, and that’s about it.

Mayla didn’t even get a line of dialogue when her dragon godfather was trying to fight off the ole tentacle madness tremens. She’s in the 8.3 cutscene but she could’ve been replaced with a lamp and had a bigger impact as that’d effect the lighting at least.

I ruined this for myself because of my obsessive need to listen to NPCs’ angry quotes when I click them enough times. :frowning:

I want racial leaders who can go on par with par against their Alliance counterparts. The current leaders are just random soldier tier who cyn be bodied by a normal squad of foot soliders if the plot calls for it. Hell. That is what happened to Vol’jin. A random fel gaurd stabbing him from the side brought his end. For the same thing happening to Varian it needed Gul’dan and a full troops of fel guards to bring him down. I think it is fair to tell which leader got the most badas.s anime trope ending the entire game has ever given us vs Vol’jin who’s death was just a second hand embarrassment.

Anyone can be bodied by a random foot soldier if the plot calls for it.

But that didn’t happen. The random soldier brought down Vol’jin. For a dead Varian we needed the main bad guy having his hand in that event. The double standard is present and Legion made it the most obvious one.

You said “can be”. As long as you acknowledge that.

We didn’t need one. That’s just how it happened.

Then where are the dead alliance characters being offed out by said random soldiers? I am waiting.

So the reality isn’t the same as the possibility. At least you can acknowledge that.

I mean, what you said just reinforced Irenaus’ point. In the case of these two characters, their power levels did not matter. Varian may be blessed by Goldrin, but Jin was a hybrid Priest, Warrior, Shaman, Monk who was equally blessed by the Loa of Death. Who’s Troll regeneration was so potent he was able to survive having his throat slit by a blade coated in poison meant to mitigate Troll regeneration. The reason Jin’s death was so insulting was because of how he went out; on top of Sylvanas being treated as the Warchief even before he hit the dirt.

Jin, conceptually, was FAR stronger than Varian at that time. Yet Jin got killed by trash mob.

So you can admit that I am right with the circumstances being a trash outcome for the Horde? Good. That is all I wanted to hear.

Warchief Sylvanas could have been the best thing since sliced bread. Dave Kosak set the idea into motion. It was Alex Afrasiabi who ruined the motion which followed after.

Dont twist my words. I generally do agree that the “Power Levels” of the Horde roster pails in comparison to their Alliance counterparts. But the Varian vs Vol’jin death scenes is NOT an example of that, but rather enforces Iren’s stance that “Power Levels do not matter”. Because JIN was the more powerful of the two on paper. Far more powerful! But Varian got the more far more Power Level inspiring death.

Do you understand what the future is? You realize can be doesn’t mean it has happened? You can die, doesn’t mean you are dead.

We started talking about the possibility. You’re the one who brought the past up. I never changed gears.

… Why are people trying to have a rational conversation with Red Ainhin?

You know his gimmick. Rational discourse is not it. Over-the-top self-harming “Horde Pride” is, and there is nothing rational about it.

Let Everen be Everen.

Problem there is the Raventusk have a particular hatred for Gryphons.

I thought maybe Akil’darah might be the origin of the Gryphons but even then, that complicates things with the Raventusk.

True but I think I see why they did that.
It’s likely Voss would of been put in Zelling’s place in that situation, and Voss wouldn’t have the protection of being a racial leader that Baine had.

Captian Taylor was backstabbed by his own traitorous soldier.

Well Voss is competent. So, probably wouldn’t have been much of a followup story there if she successfully rescued Derek without incident.

Which might’ve been better, actually. Because you still spring Derek as a loyalist but you do so undercover. For no reason at all.

Seriously so the plan was dredge up Derek Proudmoore from the bottom of the sea, patch up his corpse with some dedicated embalmers, raise him and then just torture the ish out of him. With the idea being hopefully this causes someone to do a treason. And hopefully it’s a high ranking someone who’s arrest will cause a big enough rift for a civil war to happen.

Seriously BFA Sylvanas’s plans only sort of make sense if she got an advanced copy of the script. Because a living Anduin sure seems vital to the Jailor’s plans. And uh, she very nearly melted him at the Battle of Lordaeron. Twice. And only failed because of a Deus Ex Jania.

But Derek was successfully rescued.

I agree that Voss should of been in Baine’s place of doing the actual rescue but Baine would of still had to be involved in returning Derek to Jaina. Voss would of had no reason to do so and Jaina would have no reason to kill her on the spot if she had. Sylvanas would of still known of it, still would of figured out who did it and would of still killed one as a message and arrested one to make an example out of.

Not really. Everything about that seams more like a “Plan B” after she failed to bring Azeroth down.
Not saying it makes any more sense, but I don’t think Anduin’s future was of much concern of hers at that time.

  • nope, you’re confusing Vilebranch Tribe with Witherbark Tribe. Zul’Jin the chieftain they revered didn’t go out for each tribe, he challenged the chieftain of each tribe to gain leadership over other tribes.
Forsaken are murder hobos that need to no excuse to exterminate people.
Even Darkspears who had a grudge against Gurubashi wanted to get along with them in Cataclysm as they saw that Gurubashi went through enough of hardships already.

Just because Shadra isn’t their patron doesn’t mean that they don’t value her. Shadra is important to 3 troll kinds - Jungle, forest and Zandalari. Forsaken raising their hand on spider goddess is a massive afront to them. HERECY.

Have you’ve seen every place they went to? It is transformed to ugly soil with sludge and other nastiness. They also bring with themselves blight to make land uninhabitable for anyone. Heck, even in western plaguelands forsaken were working to undo the work CC druids were doing to make plagulands normal forset again!
Destroying the land is a big nono for trolls.

So nice try but NOPE, it wouldn’t work.

They’re at war with both.

Seem pretty keen on never mentioning that while killing her devotees by the bushel. In fact Mystic Yayo’Jin says she believes Zul’Jin would slaughter the Vilebranch if he were there.

Wait till they find out what other trolls did to her.

The Sludge monsters are naturally occurring ones. Forsaken have nothing to do with it.

Apparently not to the ones who join the Horde.

Okay. The game says they get along well. So it does work. Forsaken operate in their lands, live in Revantusk Village and get along so well in fact that Huntsman Markhor works with Dark Ragner Velonara. An undead elf.
