crusader strike being a 7 second cooldown is actually uncacceptable. It completely makes holy paladin feel bad and forces casting in melee. I’ve been trying to do rotations on it and even maximizing HP gen to maximize spenders with globals you literally end up with nothing to press except consecration on cooldown or casting. this change absolutely needs to be reverted. I play holy paladin to be a spam melee healer. I know I personally will not play healer anymore if i’m forced to cast as you will be with a 7 second cast the moment wings falls off.
Edit: on live my crusader strike at 25% haste is like 5 seconds compared to 7 seconds at the same haste level.

Agreed. We only have 1 melee healer and that’s fistweaver. I want a tanky, plated, battle healer that’s not standing 40 yards away spamming FoL/HL.
Is that too much to ask?

Like it’s not even about being a “wannabe dps player” casting messes with movement and just isn’t rewarding I have 0 problems with pure healing abilities such as maraads +LoTM, but the moment you start impacting my movement in addition to adding risk of wasting globals by being forced to move is the problem.

It doesn’t force casting in melee at all.
5s vs 7s cooldown is a difference of like 3.5 Crusader Strikes per minute. Fill some of that up with Hammer of Wrath, since everybody in the world is definitely speccing into Veneration now. It gives you a spare GCD to use Blessing of Seasons if you want, or a few Maraad’s-empowered insta-heals with Martyr. The new talent Daybreak with Rising Sunlight is going to mean you have to use a few more spenders every minute because you’re generating too fast, and our tier set bonus with the HolyPrism/Light’sHammer talent mean you’re using 1-4 extra GCDs a minute on that (plus 1-3 additional GCDs on spenders to burn all that generated holy power).

Have you been on the ptr to play? What are you doing with your gaps that are 1-2 globals long? Refreshing consecration on cooldown? The end of wings and especially right after wings there is tons of dead space with literally nothing going on except legitimately nothing or casting. It is a bad change and needs reversion.
And the cooldown if I were to be specific for me is actually 4.8 and 7.3 which is an extra 2.5 seconds. That’s a huge nerf. Like that’s really bad.

You clearly didn’t read what I said. So let me explain it again. All buttons are on cooldown. That includes hammer of wrath and judgement as they are now both generators.
Blessing of seasons is already ran and it ain’t just an “ability you throw out” but regardless that’s not a rotational ability.
Maraads is your only viable suggestion for filling globals, but that also means the death of glimmer (which is what they are pushing) and melee wings.
Daybreak is at most 1 global cooldown. And let’s say at best that talent let’s you cast a triple holyshock and you get enough generators for a spender. You now have 2 “free spender” globals. But that still doesn’t solve the mass of rotational gaps.
Do you understand now that I have explained it?

Kinda weird they’d put it on a CD. As Ret it’s not even all that high on my DPS and is mostly a cleave holy power builder.
I mean the ptr changes seem pretty rad to me. Definitely helps with a lot of the issues holy has on live. It is still ptr though so I’m sure there will be balancing.

don’t get me wrong the talent tree and rework is great. I’m talking mainly about one issue and one issue only which is crusader strike cooldown which isn’t shown on any talent tree.

We talked earlier but it doesn’t seem to be leading to any downtime for me. I still want to test more before I say this with absolute assurance, but taking CDR talents like 1/2 crusaders might and 1/1 imbued infusions+the HS reset capstone gives me something to basically always press. I’m not global locked so i do get to press cons too, but I don’t feel any downtime in terms of healing right now on ptr.
Between holy prism, divine favor, good uptime on HS, veneration and CDR talents for HS it feels pretty fluid. On top of having big CDS every 1 minute and rising sunlight providing more HS resets as well. Again want to test more though

I’ve been doing testing too. I do have lots of downtime, but that simply could be because of holyshock being at 2 charges. I’ve also tried changing to 1 charge of crusader strike and that did help downtime somewhat. But there were still large gaps. If holy shock gets fixed my problems might solve themselves and I’ll edit or delete this post.
Personally though not a fan of holy prism I def was more testing with lights hammer essentially doing all the one minute cooldown stuff. Although that’s just explaining why I spend my 1 hour of testing time doing that build compared to others. As I only had 1 hour to test till Monday.
Edit: I do want to clarify “lots of downtime” by this I’m meaning there is about 1-2 globals every 10ish seconds where I’m doing nothing.
Yeah I think 1-2 globals is not bad at all and is reduced even further with double HS. I used holy prism and divine favor to fill those 1-2 global gaps so I basically always had something to use (didn’t actually get to use divine favor either lol).
I also want people to think ahead too. 10.1.5 likely increases the value of crit, and we’re all very low on crit since AC/current hpal stacks haste/mastery or haste/vers for m+. Once we get more crit and get more infusions, we’ll have even more CDR on holy shock and I tend to prefer using judge to consume IoL as well which feels good. Overall it feels pretty smooth to me so far

Daybreak also triples your holy power generation on holy shock for the next three shocks, adding two more spenders per minute to your rotation.

I don’t mind 1-2 globals like every 30 seconds. But every 10 to me is a bit excessive.
Your good I sent that dm right at like 11:30 pm my time I didn’t expect a response till today to be honest. You getting back at 12:30 was perfect, I was our cold by that time though.
I feel like that talent node with Radiant Onslaught and Holy Infusion should be changed.
Replace Onslaught with Templar Strikes with a healing focus on the second part of the combo and replace Holy Infusion with Denounce, a ranged casted ability that deals damage and builds holy Power.
If they want the caster playstyle to be applicable, they need a replacement for Crusader Strike at ranged.
Keep the cooldown change.
Remove Radiant Onslaught.
Make Avenging Crusader our new Mastery, it will be weaker but always active. Avenging Crusader becomes a passive damage to healing convertor and the rest of our spec can be spent focusing on other damage abilities. Our Mastery would also boost the healing of Golden Path.
The problem isn’t the increase cooldown to Crusader Strike, the problem is Flash of Light and Holy Light are boring outdated spells that need a rework. If those two spells were fun and had symmetry with our other abilities you would feel good weaving them in.

No. It is the problem. And it needs to be changed
