Revert Lightning Bolt's Graphic! (Actually don't. Complainers gotta Complain)

Agreed.

I do not concur. Current animation looks like… lightning. It’s instant, it arcs. It’s lightning. And the accompanying thunder noise with it is quite satisfying.

It looks like a 2D ramen noodle.

It’s so disappointing that Blizzard has effectively abandoned the Glyph system. Such an underutilized feature that would greatly expand on player customizations.

But I guess because Glyphs don’t make the numbers bigger, it wasn’t worth their efforts.

I bet if they ever do they will require massive questlines and crap to milk #timeplayed. They never provide anything without gaining something from it.

cough SL spells rework cough

Ab-so-effing-lewt-ly.

I feel like I am a Stormbringer, sending bolts of blue-white death crackling through the air. Especially when my mastery goes off with a Chain Lightning and it’s just… all the lightning, everywhere. So satisfying.

Idc what it looks like. But the travel time on it is straight dookey.

Um, what?
Just bc they “rework” spells doesnt mean anything.
Providing glyphs so you can CHOOSE which spell graphics you want to use is an entirely different thing. Everyone knows you dont get anything without putting in #timeplayed. Its a business, not a game, afterall.

Its a blob/bolt. Its a copy/paste of the old firebolt animation with a color change and some lightning sparkles. Thats why its not sitting quite right with everyone because its not actually a lightning bolt but rather a recycled mage spell.

The SL spells that were made part of class specs, got their artwork changed in DF. If you wanted the original coloured versions, you had to go regrind covenant rep for the glyph.

Just give us a glyph for OG lightning bolt. Then everyone is happy.

It’s been some years, so it may be different now.
When you first open up Unity, it presented a placeholder shape for the main character, is preset for controls such as moving forward and backwards, even jumping up and down. It’s pill shaped.

The new lightning bolt is the same pill shape, but teal blue and a haze, jumping, lengthwise from the character’s hands towards the target.

The character casting animation looks great, with an electric wind-up akin to drawing charge from the ground surrounding the character. But I’d be remiss if I think of a little blue pill looks like lightning. The devs even took care to remove the crack of thunder out of the casting sequence.

This is like the difference in a choice of words onamonapias, the difference between “Pew” and “Zap”. And I get it, change happens, climate change not least of all. By the cliff face near the shores experiencing a turbulent storm, when the clouds overhead deny the sun’s light but can’t hold back it’s fury… when that energy bursts through, I’ll be damned if I ever say that Lightning went “Pew pew pew”.

Not even sure Van Gogh’s abstractionist strokes would paint a lightning bolt with dits and dots that the blue pill has streaming out of the PTR shaman hands unless it was sending a message out that said “Help”.

Not all were changed, and not all received glyphs.

Thats the problem with todays blizz…

The ones that were, IIRC, did - and the glyphs are tied to covenants and the rep grind, which sucks. Especially now.

I vastly prefer the current LB graphic to the new one. I’d hope for a glyph but it looks like they are also changing the spell to be a projectile so I’m not sure how a glyph would even work if the spell’s functionality is different.

Not revert it, but give a glyph to maintain how it is today.

I think the quality of the new effect looks great, but the execution is lacking, because what we have looks more like actual convincing lightning. The new one reads Magic Missile with some electricity.

Thats bc blizz never provides such things without gaining #timeplayed. Never. Like i said, its a business, not a game. Change perspectives. Instead of looking at it as blindfully “getting to go achieve the glyph,” like they want you to look at it; instead, more rationally, look at it as as if you are working it similar to the stock market. You have to earn the right to trade that stock by earning the monies to buy it.
Takes on a whole new meaning once you see it this way.

Why are you arguing with me?

I shared that example to bolster your claim, not argue against it.

I’m not, lol. I am boostering our standing.

Apologies if it sounds as if it comes across that way.
