Reverse Regional AH

No commodity is worth making after the regional auction house launch. And if it is for a little while, that goes away quickly once more than a couple people see it’s possible to make some gold with a certain item. Is this really what Blizzard was after? If they were trying to cure the issue of some items being hard to find then on smaller servers then why didn’t they just merge the AHs for some servers.

Having to compete against ever single person inclined to make a certain commodity in the NA is a recipe for not making any gold. There are a ton of commodities selling for negative value (although that is due to leveling professions).

I imagine the people who just want to buy consumables every week for raid/dungeons are pretty happy about it though.

It used to be a fun feature of the game to make commodities and sell them, but the irony in the profession revamp is they eliminated a big part of professions. They really just pushed it into crafted gear.

I think the reason they did this was because of monopolies by wealthy crafters gouging the buyers on small servers. It seems to work very efficiently as a remedy to that problem.

I doubt they’ll reverse course on this. It’s more likely that everything except “specialized crafting work orders” will be region-wide at some point in the near future. I’m all for it.

All the gougers…and pathetic flippers like myself …are to blame for the AH needing this change.
It should never be reverted because it’ll just go back to being like it was.

Region wide AH is more fair and is more equal. It gives everyone opportunities to buy or to sell.

As someone on a dead server, no thank you, never go back.

The alternative to taking a small loss as you level up your profession is never selling anything, if you could find the mats to make stuff, that is.

If you want high profit, gather or be the first to provide the highest quality goods.

It really was also done, in a way, to take the goldbug element out of the game for the most part. Remember, Blizzard does sell currency in the shop. The existing system allowed for enterprising players to really goblin the system, to really jack it, and allowed many, many others to make quite a bit of non-goblin levels of money with a little bit of thinking and effort, and this change very much stymies that. In a game with currency sales, it isn’t rocket science as to what a part of the motivation for that is.

If everyone is making the same, smaller profits. Whats the problem? Everyone will be earning and reduced amount of gold.

There are no new multimillion dollar gold sinks to go for.

Will say on my server before it was regional in bfa i bout all of the anchor weed on my server and resold all of it at 5x the price.
Was great man made soo much, horrible for other people though.

Really not great for the game though.

The free market solution says that if the prices are to low to motivate crafters/gathers, they will stop making/gathering stuff which will reduce supply…which in turn results in the prices going up until the market reaches equilibrium.

I agree 100%. I made over 500K in 7 weeks flipping enchanting mats at start of SL. Now it isn’t even worth DE’ing anything, it’s cheaper to buy the mats and vendor the item. Probably won’t bother doing any crafting until the patch is half over because by then the mats will be dirt cheap.
Herbs and ores are still worth a little, but have dropped 50% in the last couple days. Oh well, still have legion gold left for a while. :see_no_evil::hear_no_evil::speak_no_evil:

This is unfortunately true. And it was true less than one week into a new xpac.

Also: Rank 1/2 of everything sells at a huge loss – so that is what we want?

In theory, when people significantly increase the price of something like this, the players should respond by going out and farming the herb or ore themselves to make a quick buck off the elevated price.

I wouldn’t say this is bad for the game. People became complacent and got used to a cheap, abundant supply of herbs, ore, cloth etc. on the AH, so they largely stopped farming.

When prices go up, more people will go out and farm, and eventually the price will settle down with the increased supply of materials.

Well main bad thing about anchor weed is that it was heavily needed but couldn’t really bee farmed properly.

The regional AH is the best. Able to make 5 million per day (over even.) It’s AWESOME.

It could, it just wasn’t as abundant as other herbs So when the price goes from something like 100g to 500g, that’s a pretty strong incentive for people to leave the comforts of a city.

I agree that someone buying the entire supply of something and raising the price is disruptive, but no player can stop anyone else from gathering more of these items.
