Reusing Island Expeditions as Zones

After looking at several of the Island Expeditions, especially the new ones, I was curious how you all would feel if some of them (Like Havenswood, Snowblossom) were converted into various towns for use outside of just being an Island Expedition?

Specifically, what if Havenswood became a new Worgen town that Alliance players could go to, do some local quests with the villagers, etc? (And maybe later have a more Horde themed Island for the same with them)

Honestly, they should be already, island expeditions themselves are mechanically a flop because they’re these neat, beautifully crafted areas that you can’t explore because you have no time and you have a dozen crocodiles snapping on your butt.

Makes me wish there was an RP mode for instanced content that you could queue for. Phasing into an instance like the islands but there’s no mobs, resources, chests, etc. Just something you and others can use for RP, to take selfies, and just explore.

It would be nice to have a story driven RP instance finder, but the downside is it would be abused by trolls.

I think it’d be great to see them added as zones players could explore outside of Expeditions. Perhaps in a later patch or when the next expansion launches.

As long as it functioned like the Raid Finder NPCs, where you can solo or group queue, trolling shouldn’t be an issue.

Yeah. I was just looking around the screenshots of the new Havenswood Isle (The Worgen town one) and honestly, based on those images, if that was added as a ‘town’ for Worgen players, it may well be the largest Worgen town in the game.

Could also give the Gilneans an interesting new angle as they start just trying to colonize their own new settlements, and taking a bit more of the ‘expeditionary corps’ feel of the Victorian setting.

I imagine Havenwood is another ruined worgasm like Bradensbrook. “look worgens, here’s a town with the Gilnean aesthetic with limited practical uses”.

It makes me not even want to level a worgen character. Bradensbrook is almost a slap in the face really. There was a lot of story potential there, where Genn could have been like “hey, you know the thing with the wall, and leaving the alliance, and the rebellion, and the scourge… that was all crazy, but things are different now, and I like to offer you my protection… blah, blah, blah” or something! Even if they said, “you know what Genn, GFY.” Then at least he would have tried, or at the very least Crowley should have gone in there.
As much as I liked going into Bradensbrook as a Forsaken main, I feel like that would have been better for worgen story development, than neutral content.

You are right in that the Island Expeditions could have been something so much… more… there should be a map of the sea that we slowly unlock over time by completing expeditions, continually unlocking more difficult and rewarding islands as we explore the ocean. There should be a seafaring element were we control a ship like we would a goblin glider to reach these islands and their existence should influence/reference the story in some way. Why aren’t more islands popping up on the world map because of our adventures out at sea? It just doesn’t quite feel like a south sea expansion. Could’ve been a great opportunity to create water mounts (ships), even bring in a whole woodworking / boat-making profession which would synergize with the warfront resources. And why aren’t warfronts and island expeditions PvP by default with an option to go against NPCs?

Also we all want to see them go all out with an azerite pirate raid.

Sometimes i wonder if blizzard knows what an RPG is…

Seeing Island Expeditions reused for other content would be amazing. Beyond that, I don’t see how a “Worgen-themed” island at all fits with the theme of expeditions. How is something clearly occupied “uncharted”?

groups would be interrupted and trolled, if this was an option, people already disrupt RP so it would just be a target for them sadly.

Just because there is a settlement there doesn’t mean the island has been charted. It remember ages ago there was a discussion about fleshing out Stormwind by suggesting a boat of refugees from the First War crashed on some remote, uncharted Island and built a home for themselves there, but were unable to leave due to a lack of resources for constructing a new boat, and a lack of shipwrights.

Same thing could apply here.

I get the argument, it just seems flimsy verses the other absolutely empty islands

Aren’t one of the islands inhabited by Hozen?

Have you never used the raid finder NPCs? Other players don’t get queued in with you unless they’re already part of your party.

Oh you mean that. Well yeah, that would work, but there is no doubt in my mind that people will find ways to ruin it since it’s RP, but that’s a pretty good idea. The only thing i can’t see them doing is creating content for the sole purpose of RP, maybe make it like islands just more storydriven, as well as just zones or parts of zones instanced/filled with npcs and you just have an RP playground pretty much.
