I find WoW the easiest MMO to return to after a long break other MMO’s I’m always so lost after not playing for a bit. FFXIV I’m always lost and have forgotten just about everything and make that double for Guild Wars 2. Anyone else that plays any or all of these also find that to be the case?
Wow is the MMO I’ve played the longest (since vanilla) so it’s the game I feel at home the most with playing. I agree it’s easy to jump back into, just not easy for new players to learn sadly.
FF14 was fun but too slow for me, and way too much loading into parts of places. ive played other mmos like the starwars one or Gw2, but they don’t have the charm that wow has, So that’s usually why I always find myself coming back. (my only break being end of BFA - Shadowlands came back for DF)
Yeah, I think so. Wow is probably the mmo i can slide back into without any real problems, but i spent most of my middle school/high school playing and it hasn’t changed much since then, so it’s always a nice feeling of nostalgia.
Swtor is another one I can slide into easily enough, but that’s because I only play it for the story, everything else is just forgettable.
I tried like 20 times to get into gw2, but I could never get a groove going, it’s one I can’t jump into.
Ragnarok Online is one I played for years, third to Wow/FF14, and I can’t easily get back into it either which is disappointing. I’d like to play it again though.
ff14 is the opposite problem, it’s one I can’t get out of lol.
There’s dozens of other mmos, mostly dead now, that I could list, but meh.
only gw2 is the easiest. prolly most casual mmo out there. it’s a very hop in and out game and there’s ppl in all lvls so acutally sociable.
it’s nice but i don’t talk in games so ya but it’s nice to see banter
I really wanted to get into Final Fantasy XIV as much as I am with World of Warcraft, but the lack of a third party website as dedicated as Wowhead makes it harder for me to know what’s going on and when.
GW2 is so hard all the content is like some kind of Dark Souls content.
WoW is the MMO I want to leave that keeps dragging me back every few months.
I agree with you. As an FFXIV player too the level 90 rotations are hard to come back to without practice.
Wow generally isn’t too bad. Even ‘complex’ classes have a rhyme/rhythm to them.
I have long periods where I’m obsessed with one thing and forget about everything else. This leaves many things unfinished or left behind for long periods of time. WoW is no exception.
It’s a struggle to not just wipe everything and start over because so much has changed or I simply can’t remember much. For me, WoW sees so many changes that, after being away for so long, it’s hard to go back to my old characters, at least fully.
I miss my main rogue, but I don’t know how to play her anymore. There’s so much to relearn, so much information to take in at one time… it’s easier just to make a new one lmao
(says the altoholic with max # of characters…)
I low-key miss FF14.
I played just as they were removing the Feast, which was an arena-like PvP mode, they retired it at the end of Shadowbringers.
I was lucky enough to rank and get the “Bronze Wolf” title, which can no longer be obtained.
PvP over there just isn’t as good as WoW PvP, but I miss the PvE and stronger community every day lol.
I actually liked that, it reminds me of the early days of WoW like Vanilla and TBC, where there was a huge sense of wonder because no one knew the game that well yet.
Keeping a sense of wonder/mystery while also having an entire database of everything, is a hard task.
I tried playing Reaper again and it was a disaster .
WoW is pretty forgiving on people that take breaks, even longer ones. It’s like riding a bike and never takes too long to catch up with current content.
I have no idea what GW2 end game is, I just kind of level and do holidays and use the world boss tracker website so I know what boss I’m supposed to mindlessly attack for resources I know not what to use for.
Anytime I take a break from WoW, I start another Hunter to get familiar with everything again.
This is a barren wasteland for the damned and cursed, turn back while you still can.
What class are you playing? I’m currently leveling a Ranger and things are so much easier (but also kinda boring). Playing a Mesmer was brutal though. Doubly so when I realized I was gimping myself by using an incomplete elite specialization
This is almost exactly my experience. I go back to SWTOR once a year to play through the 1-50 storylines with a friend, and it’s incredibly fun. But man, you have to seriously handicap yourself if you don’t want the gameplay to be mind-numbingly boring at best.
I spent like 3 months once doing just about everything in GW2, then dropped it and never once wanted to go back for more than a few days. It has a lot of great systems and cosmetics, but it can never really keep you hooked the way WoW or XIV can. Doesn’t help that even the most diehard fans will tell you the story is terrible.
