Returning to a game where my characters have been squished

Welcome to NEW WoW!

I miss old Blizzard.Im not a fan of Actiblizzion.

Game is better at 60 right now anyways if you’ve been gone for so long it’s a lot easier to get caught up now than it would be before these changes if you came back now, your stuff would still be dated.

I have played a long time. The changes are noticeable and some are good while most are bad. I miss the way it was, but at the same time I don’t like what they are doing to Wrath, the game I started playing in. It’s not Wrath, it’s BC with Arthas/The Lich King. Calling it Wrath is a JOKE!

Blizzard: “We’re reducing everyone to 60 to reduce power creep and level bloat”
Also Blizzard: “We’re adding 10 levels in Dragonflight”

Just tape a “0” after your “13” you are now lvl 130 !!!

It’s been Actiblizz for longer than it hasn’t.

not like there bringing in new players the level squish was pointless they can’t even keep the people who come back every expansion but maybe 3 months then gone. why they just don’t focus on the players who never unsub or quit is beyond me.

Thats subjective. I bought Shadowlands to lvl to 60. So I started it at 50 with I itemlvl of 50. At the gate the gear dropping was itemlvl 90. I was getting hulk smashe untill have way through bastion. I hated every second and it wasnt fun. I did like questing in Maledraxxus tho. It 60 to do just heroics I need a itemlvl of 185 to just get in the door. Im a healer so im not wanting to go in there less than 200. I dont want to go in there and grief the group or worse be that guy they kick out. The game isnt better for alot of us. Also the drops I started getting was just 120. I hated wuesting in Shadowlands so much I checked out and not going back.

They did it because talent system couldnt keep up it was a bandage that didnt work it took them too long to redo the talent system if they had done it long ago the squish wouldnt of happened

Idk m8 its a lvl, dosent really mean much.
All a lvl is in mmos is timegating but with the illusion of acomplishment.

Plus would rather not see numbers 8n the hundred millions, that junk was already getting absurd.

The squish needed to happen. Did they do a good job with it? No. They failed miserably. Scaling is so bad it’s embarrassing. So many bugs in old content. Blizzard doesn’t care though. Welcome back.

Even without the squish, expansions as we know them water down progress and each expansion piled on makes that worse. There’s a few alts that I haven’t touched in a few xpacs and they’d feel no less robbed of accomplishment if the squish hadn’t happened.

The real problem is the idea that expansions can only be vertical in nature. We should’ve had at least 4 or 5 purely horizontal expansions by this point.

I guess I’m one of just a select few who is happy with the squish. Getting a new character to max level is nice and fast and then on to playing the current content. I never felt slighted as my characters, after being squished, were still able to do just what they did before in the content they were in before.

Whenever they do another squish, I hope it goes as smoothly as this past one did. I no longer dread starting new characters because of the 120 or more levels ahead of me.

in the next expansion they might squish to level 35

It’s a number. The level squish was proportional. You did not lose progress, it’s just visual. I understand it’d be weird to come back and be a lower level than when you left, but you should be able to understand that nothing was lost after thinking about it.

Leveling in general is so fast now as to make worrying about it pointless, too. If anything, that’d be a bigger talking point toward making it feel like your effort was wasted / taken, rather than the squish itself.

As far the learning / re-learning of temporary systems? Yeah. Fair Point. Lots of people don’t like the borrowed power systems they’ve been using for the last 3 expansions. Seems like that’s not happening in Dragonflight (or will at least be dramatically toned down), so it might be worth checking out for you when it releases.

I see we have scraped the bottom of the barrel for things to complain about.

Guys just take some time and rest I’m sure you’ll come up with better complaints tomorrow

I wish they’d done it earlier, and stuck to five levels per expansion.

Color me surprised. By the thread title I thought this was going to be a gnome thread.

I liked the squish, and now you can level to 50 quick and then get in "current’ content. 120 levels if it kept going higher and higher became a very long and very annoying grind. If I was to join a game and saw I needed to get through 120+ levels I wouldn’t even bother.

I do think they broke some scaling, especially with old raid farming which they should fix. But I like the squish. I wish they’d squish it all the time and keep say level 50 a “max” level.
