I just came back recently after leaving early into the last XPac due to RL reasons. I was around enough for rated solo arena to be a thing, so I understand how that works.
I am pleased to see there’s now a solo queue rated BG. Previously I’ve always done arenas/RBGs and gone through the group finder to get into an RBG group. I’m at best average, so don’t expect anything exciting if you look up my highest rating. Anyway, before season 1 of War Within started, I was gearing up this aff lock (always been my main since I started) and played around with the warsong gulch brawl when it was out. Yesterday, after having fully honor geared my lock for pvp, I tried out a solo queue BG.
It was painfully obvious that I didn’t know the basics and that it’s different than how RBGs work. I made a mistake on Twin Peaks and was rightfully called out for it. A warrior and I killed the EFC. I saw that he was standing in front of our flag. My brain, coming from the mind of playing RBGs/BGs, was like aren’t we supposed to return this thing? So I clicked on it to return it which is when I was called out for doing so. I forgot the reason why, cause a battle erupted right after, but it illustrates my point that clearly, I am bringing the wrong knowledge to this format.
I don’t want to ruin the fun for myself or others while I “learn”, so I’ve stopped after 1 solo queue bg: Does anyone know of any guide, either text or video, that covers this for people like me who completely missed the fact that Blizzard was even going to do a rated solo BG?I’m just looking for something like the list of maps, how each of those maps are different in solo queue, and a basic list of the do’s/don’ts so I don’t sabotage things for myself and others. Like I said, I used to play RBGs mostly, so I understand the objectives and tactics for those, but it doesn’t seem like it really overlaps with the solo format. My search skills are apparently garbage, cause everytime I try and google something like “wow solo bg guide” I find links to just tier lists or commentary on whether or not it’s good for pvp etc.
Thanks!
Edit: I found an hour long video guide which went in depth over all the changes and some tips. I can’t post links but tl;dr I figured the changes out.
