hey guys I’m just comin back to bfa and I was considering picking back up my hunter. Was just curious how wanted they were for raiding/mythic plus? How are they in pvp/world pvp? thanks in advance for the info!
Based on personal experience, BM and MM hunters are pretty solid in PvE content. The mobility and range works pretty well with BfA’s raid mechanics. And the damage is pretty good if you have the right gear and traits/talents. This toon is my primary raider and M+ class.
I couldn’t speak to PvP since I barely touch it. But I imagine the same advantages are present. Range, mobility, utility, and decent damage.
hunters are pretty decent now.they can do it all as bm hunter.
Too bad BM is a snore fest these days. I can’t wait for Classic so being a Hunter will be fun again!
Bm isn’t awful but barb shot sorta sucks to me. Ik I’m supposed to keep it at 3 stacks but that’s really hard for me to do at times when I get no resets.
Assuming this is your hunter, don’t try to replicate guides down to the letter that are written for end game while you’re still leveling. While leveling, basically just keep a barbed shot up.
This is just a alt hunter my 120 hunter doesn’t show up on my character list for some reason
In that case, rng is rng. Sometimes you get resets, sometimes you don’t.
I’m a pretty unlucky guy so that might be why I don’t see much in line of success with bm haha.
Survival is fairly strong in all aspects at the moment and decent talents. I’d give it a shot.
Until then MM is okay and BM’s playstyle is lackluster in my opinion. Awaiting some hunter rework.
Do survival hunters have to use mongoose bite or can they get by with a diff talent?
You can use tip of the spear.
Mongoose is the best talent overall BUT tip of the spear shines until geared when mongoose takes off.
But even then I use tip of the spear. I’m not progression mythic raiding at the moment competitively so the small loss really doesn’t affect anything at all.

Just to clarify you want to keep frenzy at three stacks not barbed shot. The general goal is to refresh the barbed shot dot as soon as it hits 1 sec or if you are about to get a second barbed shot charge (in case of procs)
And don’t worry about having a 100% uptime on raid bosses its not possible for most of us. You can still get purple and gold parses screwing up barbed shot (I think its because there are no that many people trying to keep the 3 stack up)
