Returning player. What servers for RP?

Returning after 5 yrs away. I thought it could be fun to take it easy and check out the RP side of things. I dont mind starting new toons on new servers, but which for Alliance/Horde are best for general RP? Pickup RP, general IC interactions, etc. Maybe I’ll take part in more organized stuff later, but need to find good server homes to settle in first.
What’s the recommendation these days?

Moonguard for Alliance and Wyrmrest for Horde. The only other possible option you have is Emerald Dream but the RP there is almost dead compared to MG or WrA. All the other RP servers are near empty.

Yeah, I come from Farstriders where ‘RP’ seems to be in name only. I’ve seen older posts from years ago suggesting MG/WRA for A/H, but wasn’t sure if that was still current or if one had developed more of a balance of activity since then.

You are better off finding those guilds online via websites and this forum even. They are a rare breed of players and are often disregarded as nuts. I like them and play right along with them.

The most active servers are Moon Guard and Wyrmrest Accord. Many will say Moon Guard for Alliance, and Wyrmrest Accord for Horde. I can tell you that Wyrmrest Accord has an outstanding Alliance community and Moon Guard also has a great Horde community.

You will be hard pressed to find RP on the other servers, unfortunately. Most of the communities are pretty dead.

WRA for horde, Argent Dawn for Alliance and Moonguard for bottom of the barrel alliance RP.

“Moonguard for bottom of the barrel alliance RP”
Wow, MG just got called out. Haha.

Don’t mind them. The rivalry between MG and WrA is more compelling than the faction war story.

There’s two kinds of people that hate Moon Guard:

  • Someone that rolled a human to see what Goldshire was all about. Well, that’s what they’ll tell you but we all know they went looking for some ERP.

  • Someone that caused their own drama.

You know, based on what I’m hearing about BFA, I’m beginning to think you’re onto something. Blizzard should be taking notes.
I suppose I should count myself lucky I missed out on that xpac.

Wherever you choose to go, just avoid House and Military tagged guilds. Thank me later

Good luck on your adventures!

ERP doesn’t bother me. I’ve seen worse.
Long as there’s plenty of non ERP elsewhere to engage in.

I think people are really nice on MG but the Horde side is very small. I love it this way but most people go else where for Horde RP.

You may have heard of Moon Guard because of Goldshire, but rest assured our RP community is AMAZING, check out Tournament Of Ages, which is a HUGE annual event where a bunch of roleplayers join up and mingle, make things to sell, roleplay, and have a roleplay battle arena.

I am on Maelstrom connected RP realms and its fine, small, but there is no RP, thank god.

That sounds great for an alliance toon, but any idea how Horde is there? Or if they can take part in the big events like that?

That event they mentioned is faction-neutral, and it IS cross server as well. They will have Wyrmrest Accord anchors so characters from both servers can participate.

Don’t forget we have potion of tongues now (sold in new dalaran sewers), which has made cross faction rp (like the tournament) easier than ever.

I would disagree with this. I had to leave MG after trying a few times. NEVER went into Goldshire, but the Goldshire mentality infected everything human. Routinely got spammed guild invites, usually with “flavors” of Goldshire in their advertising. Yes you can block the invite, but the message still comes through. Same with Just about every channel. I haven’t been offended ons any other realm but man MG was the worst.

I am fine with people doing their own thing, I just don’t want to read it.

I have Alliance characters on MG and I’ve never experienced that.
