Coming back to the game and looking to get into RP again, heard from a friend that Moonguard is more active than Wyrmrest these days, is this true? Which faction is more active for RP in general? Planning to roll a dracthyr but also considering moving some of my other characters as well.
Itâs been my observation that for roleplay; Moon Guard has always been more active than Wyrmrest Accord.
The rule has always been:
Moon Guard for Alliance RP.
Wyrmrest Accord for Horde RP.
Not to say that MG Horde or WRA Alliance doesnât have RP, because they do. But the pools are smaller forcing those communities to get creative and coordinate with each other to show healthy public RP activity.
MG has the largest pool of roleplayers in Alliance, but between the two servers quality varies based on individual input. Your preference between the two is personally subjective to the culture of Horde or Alliance.
Foremost, please stop with the mentality of âthis server is for this factionâ. It only hurts communities, because frankly, that statement encourages people to ignore a community blindly rather than investigate them and see firsthand that there is for example Alliance RP on WRA, and Horde RP on MG.
The reality is both MG and WRA have good communities for either faction. By blindly stating one server is better than the other for a faction is utterly devoid of insight, or knowledge of either serverâs culture.
The reality for MG Horde is that it is active, and there are a handful of thriving high-quality Horde RP guilds with a strong focus on rp and story creation. We are known for organizing rp-pvp, and content that WRA does not offer such as Dance Of The DEad with is a massive Halloween rp-pvp event that attracts hundreds of players every night it runs.
MG Horde also has the upcoming Horde Vanguard project, which is currently the only pro-Horde faction hub for engagement and community-driven content focused on the Horde as a faction.
WRA does in fact have an Alliance community, with activities. I canât speak much on the matter, because I am not a part of it.
Look around the server forums, it is easy to see activity and a community on either server. Use those same forums you are on to look for a place to plug into those communities: an active rp guild, or public rp event.
That said if storytelling and organized event running rp is not your thing? All you want is random walk-up RP? You are not looking for an active rp guilds? The best place is MG Alliance for Stormwind.
There is also the Coalition of the Horde which, contrary to othersâ opinions, is also pro-Horde, and has been the largest unified Horde community on the Moon Guard Server. The Coalition has been running Horde Community campaigns and events regularly for a number of years, and also encourages not just IC Horde players, but OOC Horde players as well. It is welcoming to those who have created characters on Horde side who have in-character politics that lean more toward Neutral, including organizations like the Argent Dawn, Cenarion Circle, and Earthen Ring.
Yep Coalition of the Horde is a very active Horde Community and is very welcoming to new players wanting to get into RP MG Horde side with several guilds taking part and will even be having a mini campaign for pre DF fun during the 26th and 27th if you ever wanted to see some Horde RP
Moon Guard is the mega server for roleplayers. Be it Alliance or Horde.
Roleplayers have been migrating in large number to Moon Guard from all the other RP servers, including WRA and ED, for a couple of expansions now.
I will still agree that it is:
Moon Guard for Alliance RP
WRA for Horde RP
Giving Horde side on MG recently had a divide due to backroom politicking. I would personally take an inclusive Horde side project at least Coalition of the Horde allows neutrals. Which make up a lot of the Horde Community. And the CoH has supported large server projects for years such as Conquest, Horde side Campaigns and Dance of the Dead.
Moon Guard Horde is more guild-focused, but you can find amazing horde guilds in Coalition of the Horde, or the community-run events from there also!
Stormwind always has random walk up RP usually in the Mage Quarter, Lionâs Rest, and Cathedral Square but you can find it everywhere. If you want RP outside of Stormwind you are probably gonna have to join a guild or project that caters to that area. My guild uses Dalaran a lot and Iâve noticed more people using it lately. The Assembly of the Three Hammers has been making good use of Ironforge lately too.
As for Dracthyr I think some people have posted about potentially making guilds for them. I donât know much about their story/lore though so I am not certain where they will be congregating.
There are plenty of active guilds of all types that can provide pretty much any type of RP you are looking for. Iâd say browse the forums and if possible join a couple of the discords. There are some for Moon Guard in general, Grand Alliance, Coalition of the Horde, etc. and from those you can find guilds and projects and join their discords and eventually youâll find the RP you want somewhere in the Moon Guard discord universe lol.
Thank you all for the wealth of information, itâs been very helpful.
I respectfully disagree with you on this on almost every level.
If you want to encourage growth in specific RP communities, Sure, more power to you. But itâs disingenuous to omit the elephant in the room which is the disparaging faction imbalance of each server.
If youâd like, Iâd be absolutely open to talking on the subject more in DM, Iâm in the Eternal Courts Discord. No ill will. but I /really/ donât want to derail this thread into a divergent schoolyard argument.
There was so much more to the post Banshih made that you seem to have decided to omit as âdisingenuous.â What is truly disingenuous is attempting to claim the helpful information that has been given here, by more than just Banshih I might add, is derailing the thread in any way or akin to a schoolyard argument. The only one bringing something moderately not useful to this discussion for the OP is you by attempting to shut down discussion.
Many people have already stated very helpful things and the poster has already thanked them for it. It seems like the help has been received! No debate was necessary.
Whereâs this passive-aggression coming from?
I have a respectful disagreement, Nothing more. No slander, no personal attacks of character, No satyr or multi-para bullet-point breakdown.
If she doesnât want to chat, no pressure. I wouldnât think less of her, given all the good work she does.
I definitely donât speak for Banshih. I just donât enjoy when people attempt to shut down perfectly valid conversations for naught when people like her have worked so hard to help the Horde side of MG. Thereâs nothing passive aggressive about what Iâve said and to attempt to put aggression where I donât have it is gas lighting.
Iâm not trying to shut it down, far more abrasive methods exist for that.
No, Iâm only interested in expanding the conversation, but this particular thread is concerned more about the OPâs general curiosity rather than a deep-brain difference of opinion.
In-game chat, Discord chat, or literally any other avenue is better than derailing this particular thread. What with how easy it is for things to get toxic on the forums.
There is nothing to talk about. A lot of helpful information was already provided to the OP.
MG Horde and WRA Alliance continue to suffer from people who are not a part of their community showing up, claiming itâs dead and tell people to go elsewhereâŚmeanwhileâŚ
Oct 22nd, 2022 - just 1 small rp event on MG Horde
As someone from WRA Horde just here to reaffirm that there is no âone server for one factionâ. Yes, MG is more Alliance heavy and WRA is more Horde heavy. Both servers have very different cultures and approaches to RP. MG is more community driven while WRA is more guild driven. MG Alliance tends to be more open to different interpretations of lore while WRA Alliance tends to stick with whatâs in the games and books. MG Horde doesnât have the numbers WRA Horde has, but MG Horde puts on major community events that attract folks from not just MG, but also WRA and even ED.
OP, make a few characters on both servers and see what feels right for YOU. There is no one server for one faction. Iâve spent some time on MG and the people here are incredibly kind and welcoming, so wherever you go youâll be in good hands.
I think this thread has been derailed enough. Best of luck to you OP and I hope to see you in Azeroth soon!
Imbalance is subjective. If you are talking about random people standing around desperately waiting and expecting to walk up and entertain them? Yes. You are correct on the faction and server combination.
If you want to talk about the quality of the projects, guilds, and roleplay on the servers? That is a much closer line and I agree it does no favors to anyone to tell them to go one place or another based on some game mechanics line that will eventually be null and void as it moves more to cross-faction guilds just like it has with communities.
Seems like a sensible approach. I currently have both Alliance and Horde characters on WRA, Iâve made a couple of toons on MG to check it out a little and Iâm also planning on rolling my Dracthyr there Horde side with a friend and join Nightscale Wardens, which should certainly give me a bigger taste of things. Iâm not sure what sort and how much additional RP Iâll want beyond the new guild, but the prospect of taking part in community events certainly excites me. There are certainly times when I get off work and Iâm just in the mood for some RP, and no one I know is around, so walk up RP being an option is nice, but that has never been my go-to. Structured events through guilds or the broader community have always been more enjoyable to me. They donât always fit with my work schedule, but thatâs life.
It sounds like MG Horde is definitely better suited to you then. I havenât been to a Coalition campaign and awhile but I hear good things. Itâs either a week or two weeks? Not sure but the Coalition has done a fantastic job with the community theyâve built. Itâs a nice bonus they welcome WRA and ED to the events so everyone can attend.
Iâll only say this about WRA horde as I was there for awhile.
Socially it felt like your experience depended on the guild you were in, from the first time I set foot on Moonguard, which was just before the Tournament of Ages began this year, I felt a strong sense of community, but that might just be me finding what I was looking for. Iâve not been content since the mass exodus of Emerald Dream just before Legion ended. I can only say that MG, Horde and Alliance feel more like home to me than any other server.
