I just returned to playing retail because shadowlands looked promising. The last patch I did was back in Legion where the Emerald Nightmare was the only raid. i just queued korrak’s revenge up to 120.
I was wondering if there are catch up mechanics or something like that from Timeless Island or something similar. back in MoP, there was a mega thread guide about catching up from scratch, I’ve been looking around and I have yet to see any guides for newbies or returnees.
or should I just slug it out through questing all of the zones? I mean, I know I should finish all of the quest, and I will. I’m just saying that it would be better if i had a decent gear from the catch up mechanic.
any tips would really help. and thank you in advance.
Once you hit 120 get the quest from nathanos blightcaller on the boat that opens up Nazjitar. You will then get your heart of azeroth neck underway decently and receive mana Pearl’s for catch up gear.

Nazjatar.
Make sure you get friendly with each of the three Factions of Zandalar(I’m assuming you’re horde), then open up each of the main foot-holds on Kul Tiras. Edit Through the War Campaign. (Objectives are listed at the top of your Quest Log.
That should unlock World Quests and then you’ll get a quest to go to Nazjatar which lets you get Benthic Gear which is the catch-up gear.

You should get a quest pop up at 120 that leads you to Zandalar.
You have to use the scouting map there yourself to do the intro quests of each new zone, up until Friendly reputation, should take an hour or so per zone depending on your own speed.
Once you’re friendly with each zone faction, visit your warfront table and nearby you’ll get a quest to go to Nazjatar.
Follow those quests to set up shop in Nazjatar, upgrade your necklace, and outfit yourself with Benthic gear tokens, you farm mana pearls in that zone to purchase tokens for you and your alts.
You could go to Mechagon beyond that, but I don’t think that would be a good use of your time this close to a new patch.

This only applies to alts. He needs to unlock world quests first and do the war campaign, I believe.

so for example, if i reach friendly with zandalari empire, should I go to the next zone immediately? or should i quest some more in the zandalari empire area to clear the whole zone??
Chewing through the main story quests in each zone will end up getting you a lil bit of cash and you need revered for pathfinder if you’re planning on working towards that before 9.0

after you unlock nazjitar, there is catch up gear that drops from mobs, WQ from there.
it starts at 385, also has a vendor there you can buy, upgrade that gear with manapearls a currency specific to that zone
