Hello. Returning player here. Played years of classic wow, giving this a shot.
One question - character gear progression? I finished the first zone. Do i need to go through the other 3? Whats the best way to gear up? I am a little confused. Thanks!
which zone are you talking about?
if you havenât already headed into the new karesh zone, that is probably the place to start. the quest line would deck you out in 642 ilevel gear. from there, head into heroic dungeons to get up to 665.
the other thing is to check out delves.
I find them entertaining on their own and they are a really good method of gearing and getting the valorstones and crests you need to upgrade gear.
Do the main story until you unlock world quests and hit level cap.
Do delves and world content until your ilvl is high enough to get into heroic dungeons.
Do higher level delves, heroic dungeons, and eventually LFR/M0s until your ilvl is high enough to get into M+s/normal raids
Keep moving to higher difficulties in delves, M+, and raids

Going to have to be FAR more specific.
The first zone where? Technically that can be inferred as anything from Elwynn Forest to The Waking Shores and everything in between. Hell, for a 100% new player, the âfirst zoneâ will ALWAYS be Exileâs Reach nowadays.
Considering youâre 80, Iâm going to assume first TWW zone for now. General procedure nowadays since SL is to finish the storyline campaign/quests that open up the expansion, otherwise you get locked out of stuff, wonât have access to world quests, wonât have access to alternate leveling/70-80 scaling on alts, etc.
Make sure youâve finished the campaign if that is your first level 80 character. That will specifically be the following achievements:
- Isle of Dorn
- The Ringing Deeps
- Hallowfall
- Azj-Kahet
Once you have the last one, you return to Dornogal and just do a quick quest turn in that acts as the unlock for everything else. This only needs to be done ONCE as it will then open up everything that was locked for the other characters on your account as well.
If you are legitimately new and returning welcome back. Since youâve hit level 80, I would head straight to hallow fall and go to the flames radiance area where you can do dailies to get tokens for 655 gear as well as chests that will drop up to 689 gear.
Kâaresh is the âhot new thingâ right now, and any/all gear should come from there if you are doing PvE at least.
Story quests in Kâaresh, get your cloak, do world quests/phase diving until you are geared enough (ilvl 655+) to queue for Heroic dungeons, then M0 and M+ from there, as well as the raid.
Iâm not sure what LFR requires since we just got it today, but I assume itâs a similar ilvl.
Isle of Dorn, and everything on/under it, was Season One.
Undermine, was Season Two.
We are currently just today, starting Season Three, revolving around Kâaresh.
