So far I’ve been having a blast as a healer in normal bgs, but I want to become more powerful.
I have full honor gear and some conquest from the vendor, but I’ve heard about these other gear sources too. Warmode gear, scalewarden gear, embellishments, precog, revival gear, tier sets, and various types of currencies like trophies, sparks, etc. I’ve also heard about work orders but don’t know how these work (lol).
That is so many new systems to grapple with! Can someone ELI5 how all these things work and how I should properly gear up?
I feel like I’ve missed out on some gear opportunities while spamming bgs nonstop these past few weeks. I do know about great vault, but chose to skip that method because I’m new to this class/spec and aren’t comfortable doing rated yet
Your first Strongbox should contain a green quest item that can be redeemed at the Conquest vendor for a 700 and 875 conquest token, which will let you craft 1 big and 1 medium piece that scales to 450 pvp ilev (requires a shadowflame spark).
Every week we can collect 100 sparks of life (different kind of spark) for the world pvp quest (it’ll be in one of the zones) and it’ll give us 8 trophies of strife which can be used to upgrade gear to 447 (3 ilevs short of conquest).
Basically you’re asking somebody to whip you up a piece of gear.
An important note is that item rank and reagent quality doesn’t matter for the purpose of pvp ilev because it’ll be 450 regardless. Only fret about that if you’re also using the piece for pve.

That covers the trophies and world PVP gear. But do you know anything about embellishments/tier gear/precog/revival system that I’ve also heard about? Don’t want to miss out on anything lol
Usually just bought from the AH and put into the crafted gear as seen in my screenshot and highlighted with red.
We get 1 charge per week and are up to 3 now. You just throw your conquest gear into the catalyst and it’ll convert it to tier. There’s an npc by the fountain in valdrakken that offers a quest to it.

Edit: at the Catalyst, it looks like my chest piece can be turned into Cuirass of the Vermillion Forge, which has Haste and Mastery secondary stats. So if I convert my gear, I will lose the versatility that the Conquest Chest piece had originally. Isn’t this a bad idea? I don’t think the tier set bonus would be worth losing versatility?
Edit 2: I checked my gloves, and their secondary stats look like they convert into vers/mastery, which is perfect for me, so I will convert those. But only one other tier piece has vers on it, the shoulder piece. So that means I should only get the 2 piece tier bonus and not the 4 piece one because the other 3 tier pieces don’t have vers on them. Right?
Oh, and it looks like I have to finish the main campaign before I can find the sparks of life quest right? That’s what a website says, tho not sure if it’s outdated now or not.
I understand how everything works now, thanks. I got the embellishments coming and got my tier set going as well. The only thing I haven’t done yet is the war mode weekly quest sparks of life, but I guess I can’t get that until I do the main story quest, so that’s probably out.
