Dear Blizzard Team,
I’m a long-time World of Warcraft player who recently returned after several years away. While I was excited to rejoin the game and experience The War Within, I’ve quickly found myself overwhelmed and frustrated by how unfriendly the modern game feels to returning players.
It’s not about difficulty — it’s about direction and clarity. I’ve spent more time alt-tabbing to Wowhead, Icy Veins, and other websites than actually playing. The game provides very little in-game explanation for what to do, where to go, or what newly added currencies and items are even used for.
Examples:
-
Items like Earth-Encrusted Gems have vague or misleading tooltips that give no clear use or vendor.
-
There are multiple new currencies, crafting reagents, and systems layered on top of each other, with no intuitive in-game way to understand them.
-
Returning players are immediately bombarded by systems (Warbands, Delves, Renown, professions, currencies) without onboarding or prioritization guidance.
-
The quest log and map often fail to point players to relevant or meaningful content, forcing constant external research.
As a result, the game feels less gratifying and more like homework. Instead of a sense of progression and discovery, I feel lost in a maze of poorly explained systems.
Please consider adding clearer in-game explanations, a proper returning player orientation, and better tooltips or guides for currencies, profession items, and systems. Players shouldn’t need third-party websites to understand basic gameplay.
Thank you for taking the time to read this feedback — I really do want to enjoy the game again, but it’s currently much harder than it needs to be.
Sincerely,
A frustrated returning player
