Returning casual tank. Blood DK or Prot Paladin?

Hello, community. After a hiatus, I am returning to the game and wondering which spec would be the easiest/most performant for casual tanking in PVE/M+ low/mid levels.

My Blood DK is at iLevel 242 and the Prot paladin is at 228.

Paladin is Kyrian, Blood DK I am not sure with all the changes. Maybe Necrolords or NF.

Any constructive opinion?

Have a great day, all of you

they are both in a pretty good place right now. paladin does more damage but they are both doing well i would say play what you want to

i see dks doing kyrian necro and nf. i like the extra grips and plus not alot of classes play necro so thats what ive decided to run on mine. the mobilty of nf is really nice to tho

Necro, for sure. You’ll love Fleshcraft. It’s good for both Mythic and Raiding.

And if I had my choice between those two I’d pick Blood DK for sure.

yep, I am rep 80 Necro on the DK, and maybe 60+ NF
Tanking as BDK is very comfortable for me, this is why I was thinking to change that and spicing up things a bit going Prot Pal for a while.

And TY for your answers folks

this is my BDK, sorry i was posting on the huntard

yea if your looking to change it up and try somthing new i would give paladin a shot its super fun rn. im having alot of fun with guardian drood also

For casual to mid level it doesn’t matter. Any tank fine. Bdk more king with surviving.

For high end, no one knows yet. Looking like pally/DK still but remains to be seen.

Played blood last night in +15 top and I’m fully self sustaining on some of the pulls as 4 piece blood dk with 256 Ilvl. I ended the run with 12mm heals and 6.6k hps. Healer (shammy) had 4.4K hps and all of his healing on me was smart heals, aoe like healing rain, or riptide. He healed me for ~2mm over the run.

I don’t kite much in there but as NF and with grip of the dead you can get very mobile if you need to, which is something I sorely miss having on my other tank characters. The aoe slow is just so good.

My dps was like 5-6k overall? So much lower damage profile, if that’s your thing.

I’d recommend necrolord until you get 4pc, 35% haste and the jailer weapon, then you go kyrian w/tombstone/mikanos and just slap your way through content.

This is the way. Everything else is suboptimal

Could you define what low/mid levels means here?

The biggest factor at low/mid levels would be how well you play each class.

I would argue that prot paladin is easier. Because if you’re just pressing random buttons you’ll do well enough as a prot paladin. With lots of room to grow with your utility spells.

But honestly you’ll do better at what you enjoy playing. So I’d pick that.
