Returned and have to vent

Hi everyone!!!

I’ve played WoW over the years on and off, and recently came back. When I came back and started playing again it felt off, like I wasn’t playing the game the way I wanted to play. In order to do anything (Like unlock flying in BfA) you have to do so many dumb things. I’ve never heard anyone say they like doing dailies, yet Blizzard keeps putting more and more in, they keep putting in content everyone hates. The side quests are way to distracting to the main storyline, I need to go in and delete all my quests when I get home and try to find a way to do just the main story, but having to do everything just to unlock flying is just going to make it annoying to try to do the main quest line to get the story.

I understand they need to put something in so people keep busy and not go through the content to quickly, but there has got to be a better solution. As a returning player, I feel way to overwhelmed with the new content and it feels impossible to to actually enjoy and play the game. They turned something fun into something that feels like a chore just to be able to do absolutely anything.

It’s really easy to obtain BfA flying these days, specially on Alliance side and on a Human no less. There’s no need to rush, enjoy your game and leveling.

I totally agree, I returned to BfA looking forward to the new races and I find out that to unlock the allied race content from this expansion, I have to go rep grind on LAST expansions content to unlock the races for this expansion…huh?
I think that’s completely ridiculous. I’m not asking for it to just be handed to me of course but at least make it more intuitive.

The feature was added this expansion but the content itself extends to each continent that the allied faction was originally from and I’m assuming for any future race it’ll be the same way. You should have been given a quest to return to Orgrimmar in order to start the quest lines once you hit exalted with any of the factions.

Is it just the process with unlocking each faction that you didn’t like or was their something that could have been made more apparent initially?

BtWQuests is a great addon that will seperate a lot of the quest chains and make it easier to figure out what you want to do, where you want to go, and which quests lead where if your interested in it. The interface looks like this;

It’s helped me a lot this expansion since typically I’m back and forth between activities in game. I don’t know if it’ll be perfect for what your looking for but it might prevent you from needing to delete quests out of your log by at least breaking it down better visually.

As far as I know, there’s nobody flying in the new BfA areas yet, and flying in the Broken Isles for Legion required a multitude of repetitive quests to gain enough reputation.

It’s really easy to obtain pathfinder 1 in bfa, that make you happy?

To be fair, it’s an important distinction since many folks who want flying care less about meeting the requirements of the pathfinder achievement and are mostly annoyed by the fact that completing part one doesn’t actually allow one to fly.

You’re still not happy.

I think he is talking about the fact. You have to go grind Legion rep, to be able to play half the races. Which is not bad for someone that actually played the Legion expansion for its entirety. The thing is if you did not play Legion. You are going to be grinding Legion rep every day for half the races for at least 8 months or longer, before you can play any of the races. I think Blizzard really needs to address this, especially for returning players, its a big turn off. You end up not even having time to play current content, with how much grinding you have to do over those months. Just to get the new races.

8 months or longer? It takes like 2 weeks at the longest…

You’ve still got at least a year to do everything, so I wouldn’t worry too much.

I do agree it’s too difficult to differentiate the main story line quests from the side chains. I’ve found Wowpedia to be a good source for identifying the story lines and the quests in them. When you hit 110, I recommend doing one Kul Tiras zone at a time until you finish all story chapters before progressing to the next zone; that will help make the effort more manageable.

The war campaign quests have a lighter background, so you can identify those.

Achievements will also give you hints about what you need to do to reach certain goals.

Incidentally, with regard to world quests, formerly dailies, a lot of PVP players love the assaults and their associated quests. Agreed that world quests with war mode off can get quite boring.

The first four allied races were released before the current expansion and have lore connections to the previous expansion. That said, the advertising was a little misleading.

Reminder after reset it’s world quest week which means 50% increased reputation gains from WQs, this is the best week for farming reps and again easiest on Alliance with WM on because of the +30%.

The Alliance +30% in war mode does not apply to reputation, but the 50% increase is still excellent for farming reputation.
