Return of Valor Points?

Since a lot of people are raging how gearing is turning out to be from raids and M+, why not have Valor Points return, weekly cap of course like it used too and have it to where your first random daily heroic dungeon gives some like before. Have VP drop in chest at the end of M+, you get more for the higher key you do and potentially even in raids. With this people are still upgrading their gear and have some upgrading. The upgrades can be 2/2 or 4/4 again.

Valour points would solve the problem of bad-luck RNG, would allow players agency and control of gearing, and would make many players happy.

Therefore Blizz will never do this.

That and the fact that the elitists hate valour points because it allows the unwashed masses to get good gear without having to go through them, The Grand Gatekeepers of Content.

I mean heroic 2/2 or 4/4 upgrades can stop at the base mythic ilvl or maybe just under it.

Isn’t the great vault basically a Valor Point Vendor?

But better since it can reward BiS item level gear?

(Off topic but some Valor Point items were gross though. Wasn’t the Trinket that made them remove Snapshotting a Valor Point item?)

Valor Points were used to also upgrade your gear that you have on.

Yes but you have to do content to use the great vault…OP wants the gear without doing the content

I hope they never do Valour points.

It’s way too British or Canadian, thus snooty. Valor points are so much more 'Murican.

Yeah I remember that too. That was nice, but honestly still have so much gear turnover I’m not sure how applicable that would be right now. Perhaps later in the patch it would be good.

I want gear without doing the content? I’m a supporter of the current loot system and actually want to earn my gear. I’ve been doing end game content probably long before you even started. I’m simply saying the return of Valor Points will do a lot for players who may not raid, maybe only do norm/heroic, hell once you get BiS in mythic you can still upgrade your gear with VP. So you have the wrong impression here.

That;s how it was in TBC/Wrath and Cata.
For every boss you earn a badge or 2. This way, you can exactly know how much you need to do and you have a goal on what item to get.
Drops are drops, but PvE vendors should exist. Vault is a big improvement to BFA, but still…so dull.

They could easily add a PVE “rating” system that determines what ilevel you can buy with badges.

That’s all they have to do to balance stuff. Highest timed key is a 9? You can badge to 197-200. 12? 203-207.

That would fix so many issues.

They are literally giving everyone a ilvl 190 covenant set for doing renown quest. That is the set for people who don’t raid.

They also give people normal raid gear for doing TW dungeons and heroic raid gear for doing M0s.

How many more charity gear systems do we need?

Devs want casuals who are unwilling to push keys and become raiders to quit.

By the time they get that gear it will be woefully inadequate for any and all content.

Honestly Valor Capping was very boring since it felt very much just like a way to have geared players queuing for Heroic Dungeons to keep them relevant all expansion.

(MoP players will also remember Heroic Scenario Valor Farming for Cap every Tuesday. I still hate that one where we help the goblins break into Norushen’s room).

If they aren’t raiding or doing M+s, how will it be inadequate? If they are, then why do they need the charity gear?

The ilvl cap raised to 184 this week and will be at 190 in a couple weeks. That means covenant gear will let people start out at M+3 ilvl

The op mentioned several ways to obtain Valor and you cherry picked the easiest of them to try and downplay the point. They are just giving examples of ways you could earn valor and the examples are the way we used to earn valor points.

I think its pretty obvious if you only did 1 heroic dungeon a day you would not be earning much valor gear. It would require mythic dungeon runs and raid content to earn enough to purchase anything useful.

Also running one LFR gives access to the great vault and that is not exactly content.

they need 210 gear so if they decide they want to do m+ or raids they can immediately step into +15s or mythic sludgefist and get one shot by the first avoidable mechanic

So if you are doing the mythic dungeon runs to get the currency…what makes that any better than the system we have now?

Should we go back to the BFA azerite vendor we’re you have to run a +10 mythic for 5 weeks to be able to afford a mythic raid ilvl piece?

That system was not any better for casual players than what we currently have.

Sure it was better. In the current system those casual players will never get that piece.

We could have a PVE Conquest point system and just be done with the whole thing.

Idk why its 2021 and they haven’t just adapted how XIV handles gear.
