You don’t even have to add set bonuses to gear pieces. I’m just sick of the “This is your cloth set for this entire X amount of months patch” Legion Transmog at least had variety. Not to mention better designs… The looks since 8.1 has been rather lacking… AND CAN WE PLEASE ABANDON THIS GOD FORSAKEN BLUE/GOLD theme for PVP… IT’S OLD AND TIRESOME.

No it’s fine, they explained this already. Not doing class tiers frees up their creativity to make great raid themed sets that people will just love to-

Everything went wrong. The ball had already been dropped, now they’re just kicking it around. There was so much potential lost.

They lost their ability to know how to make cool looking gear
The funny thing, to me, is that there are a lot of creative people in the world who come up with ideas that don’t exist in WoW’s armor yet. I’ve seen some fan art with custom armor that looks incredible. Other games manage to make tons of armor that doesn’t look like WoW’s either, though you’d need to adapt that creative influence of course.
I just think that if you hit a point where you’re saying “we don’t feel we can creatively make all those sets, and would rather focus on a few sets per zone” you need to step back. Put on some coffee, read a book, play some other games for inspiration, etc. There aren’t a finite number of designs and ideas, there are only people who’ve become incapable of thinking of more ideas.
Either rejuice your creativity, or consider adding fresh blood.

This! This is exactly what I feel is happening @ HQ. The art team is absolutely phenomenal. Though they sacrificed tier sets for the sake of having gear that doesn’t provide set bonuses. What happened to the cosmetic rewards like that of Mists of Pandaria? You can clear your raid or do PVP and still earn something unique to your CLASS.
The faction war is pretty much played out already, stop with the blue/gold and red/black… I’ve yet to see some bright neon tiers that really make me go “wow” in a good way.
What was wrong with having tier sets and then class specific cosmetic sets like they did in SoO? That was such a good idea… why didn’t they just expand off that?

the fathomstalker leather set is the only one i’ve liked this whole expac
And even then it’s mostly just my heritage armor with ocean stuff on it.

I think this will be an expansion no one is calling to be nerfed to mog run levels in the future. Unless having patrick sit on your face is your thing.
