Return of the "Use advanced character models" option

Just as WoD had a toggle to use the new character models or the old models, please add this in WoW Classic. It’s a simple model swap, only affects the players that enabled it, and some players do like certain new models.

inb4 NOCHANGES: Nearly all of the graphic settings in Classic are post Vanilla. This includes the water shader, rendering of models, texture resolutions, shadows, etc. This change is visual and unique to the one enabling it, not forced on anyone.

EDIT: Can we have all these “downloads” and “bugs” people just stop? You don’t know how the client works nor any basic programming understanding. You’re just arguing to argue, not cause you have any valid points or actual concerns.

Wont work with all the models

have you see the old High Elf Models? lol

Pretty sure that option was removed simply because of the issues with the new models and the way armor worked on them, or something of that sort.

I remember the hot topic on it where the size difference existed between models, if albeit very tiny as well.

They CAN do it and make it work. But it’s a lot of work. Maybe they’ll decide to, but don’t expect it any time before phase 6.

Why though? It doesnt do anything and i guarantee you your WoD resolution characters will look like garbo in Classic gear (if it works at all)

Blizzard should not touch Classic outside of gamebreaking bugs specific to this new version and server stability.

No thank you. This is Classic. If you want Retail stuff, you can play retail for the very same sub money. There’s no excuse. But adding to Classic is a slippery slope of NO.

No. It will inflate the game’s download size and the operation performance even if the models are not in use. Classic as it is loads and runs ridiculously well, way better than I ever expected it to for being the Legion client base. No inflation. No bloat.

i don’t see the harm in it, we already have retail water and other graphical modifications
as long as people can toggle it off it hurts nobody

Well you’re having fun in ways that they don’t approve of, so there’s that. It’s kind of a big deal.

I think a big issue is that a lot of items from Classic never were updated. That means it’s a lot of extra work. I’m willing to bet they are spending most of their time right now debugging and working on the content for phase 2. I don’t see where they’d have time to worry about working on extra graphical elements just because…

New models wouldn’t give the same “classic feel”, so no. Even with your “inb4” stuff, current still feels like classic. Having new models even if it is just for you, and anyone opt’ing in, it will disrupt the classic immersion. (Texture res, shadow, water shading, and so on doesn’t disrupt it) imo. Everyone has their own opinion. Mine is no. GL and enjoy classic.

It would in no way disrupt YOUR immersion, unless part of your immersion is dictating how other players enjoy looking at their gaming screen.

That said, I’m neither for or against such an option, but am definitely against any change that bloats the client and could affect performance for those with toaster PCs.

No, you go back to BFA.

Why are more options an issue? We already have retail grass and water, so why not models?

because think about all the various models in the game. think about how much download space it is to give them all retail versions.
furthermore - why is it fair to have new models in classic, but old models can’t be in retail?

#No changes !

I’m usually with the #NoChanges crowd but I don’t really get it with this.

Classic’s graphics have already changed dramatically with retail options. What’s the downside in denying player’s a personal option with literally 0 impact on anyone else?

I understand it’s about the principle, and I’ll probably be given a slippery slope argument about how a harmless personal option will eventually lead to the addition of flying or LFD in Classic or whatever. But it really feels like there’s no good reason not to include this as an option, given the precedent is already there.

how about download size? how much space do you think it would take to implement such a system with having 2 character models for literally everyone.
furthermore - can you guarantee it won’t be buggy? the last thing i want is to have bugs because we added something to appease the “pro change” crowd.
also - would the pro change crowd stop with just getting models? or would they progress to asking for the next change even harder because they already got their foot in the door?

if you give them a glass of milk…

My memory was the swap was removed because of the new attack animations.

My dream is for the new models with the old model animations. Some of the new model run cycles are just awful but I like the new models otherwise.

…Also my undead priest has that one skull face that doesn’t exist anymore in the new models because they needed to rig up the face for animations. Can we have the skull face back but in shiny new graphics?

Yeah, so you don’t know how these clients work is what you’re saying. We literally have retail graphic options, this isn’t much different.
