Summoning portals that helped me fight in legion felt so great as a destruction warlock. It was fun and it felt like it made sense. Wish we could have it back because even though it was part of the artifact it wouldn’t be very warlocky to not learn to make our own version ourselves.
Plus it helped a lot when chaos bolt couldn’t be cast and we had to be on the move. We had a great way to deal damage without relying on chaos bolt as much.

I think the real question is how would it fit into the current talents or would it be baseline? Right now the only spot I see it fitting in the talents is where Dark Soul sits if Dark Soul it were to go baseline or maybe in the spot of Soul Conduit.
It did always feel like a total waste to take away such an ability that felt flavorful and had a good interaction with our rotation. Not to mention it was visually pleasing. If any expansion to bring it back (with Legendary items and all) this would be the one.
In my opinion, Rain of Chaos should be baseline and this should be in it’s place. It would even be fine as a chaos bolt replacement.
Rain of Chaos could be made to work if they just cut the RNG or take a different route with it. I know I voiced my want for it to be basically Lord of Flames from Legion and Kalamazi did as well. Thematically and consistency-wise, it would be a much better version of the talent if they plan to keep it which I’d like to see if they can get it to a point of not being frustration inducing.
I think i potentially have a solution.
We bring portals for all specs. Much like Destro’s artifact portal from legion
For aff it would would be a portal above your enemies marked with corruption and drains their soul a little bit, extending the dots.
For Demo, nether portal would be baseline and would play very skillfully when used with demonic consumption.
For Destro obv they would get all 4 of their random portals (3 charge) back.
Sounds exciting actually. Was always annoyed by the fact that mages can teleport people but warlocks could only use their portals with the help of others. Would be cool if we opened up damage rift portals – at least have a mastery of something.
Rain of chaos should drop Infernal to a 2min CD and summon two infernals, no RNG.
A movement filler spell like rift would be neat, but not to replace anything and I can’t think of a row to put it on.
this is such an easy fix ya’ll! Replace Channel Demonfire with Dimensional Rift. Done. While their at it they should really make cataclysm baseline.
