Rets need a lock on pathing ability

The dmg is there… the heals are probably too good right now but something that is so irritating to me about playing ret is the lack of a movement like charge/ grip/ etc. I always feel like on my ret i’m playing a movement/ pathing minigame whereas on most other classes i atleast have a button every often i can use to kind of path to them automatically or bring them to me. It’s not about cavilier not being good or anything it’s a great move but it also requires me to focus more on move path and i almost find it better for running in fights then trying to stay on a class kiting.

It’s always been easy to kite a paladin. It’s just part of who we are. Remember that you’re not a warrior. You have to play to your strengths/weaknesses.

Cata/MoP/WoD ret would like a word.

We weren’t “high mobility” by any means but we were absolutely not easy to kite back then.

The whole point of Blessing of Freedom and Cleansing poison/magic debuffs is to make paladins hard to kite.

You know, just the things they’ve had for the last 16 years.

Only Holy can cleanse magic, it’s been that way since Wrath ended… All defensive magic dispels were moved to healing specs only (except for Mass Dispel).

They gave Ret Emancipate as compensation during MoP and WoD and then took it away for no reason in Legion

Id be fine with that, but you’d need to give up some of your damage or utility/healing.
Can’t have no weaknesses.

I always felt it appropriate that, with the introduction of death knights, the 3 plate wearers had their own unique method of position: warrior went to you, dks brought you to them, and paladins played a more vanilla game.

I’m fine with our lack of repositioning but I’d like to see our abilities changed to include a 10-15 yard range. The idea that we lack mobility but make up for it with baseline range has always appealed to me and I’d love to see it explored as a means of addressing our shortcomings.

Yeah but those don’t do much. We have always been easy to kite and always will be unfortunately.

Eh, he’s right in that wotlk pally was kiteable. No steed, dispellable freedom.

Mop or wod when we had the three seal judge buff for constant movement speed buff was nuts tho, combined with pursuit of justice.

Although right now ret is close to that level of mobility. Undispellable freedom, steed with improved duration from soulbind. I don’t have issues. And not every class needs to be homogenized to have the same snap movement skill. Rets good where it is right now movement wise. Freedom considered , we’re harder to kite than warriors and dks.

Wrath had best movement for Paladin IMO. Long arm + sprint from judgement. Horse is good for just moving around in areas where you can’t mount up, but that 3 seconds of sprint every 8 seconds was the best it has every been and will ever be.

We didn’t have Long Arm in Wrath, it didn’t exist until Cata.

Also Long Arm and the sprint from judgment are the same thing… Did you mean to say Pursuit of Justice?

We had PoJ+cleanse/BoF in wrath for movement.

crap am I having a bit of a mandella effect here.
Wrath had increased Judgement distance in the holy tree, and I swear there was another effect that gave a small sprint boost during wrath.

If it was a late wrath / cata pre-patch thing that might be why I’m thinking it was around longer. along the pre-req talent for it in cata giving it more range which is why I more associate the name with distance over the sprint effect.

WoD was the definition of high mobility, Retribution (with the right talents) had more mobility than Rogues did in most previous expansions, and more than Demon Hunters. Constant +60% move speed with Emancipation + Blessing of Freedom.

Nope. The whole point of Ret’s mobility in Cata, MoP and WoD was to be unkiteable, and that is sorely missed.

I agree.

Don’t need much mobility anyhow when every minute I can blow anyone up, including healers, every minute or so with Seraphim and Divine Toll. I don’t see us getting anymore mobility unless a nerfbat is taken to our explosive burst.

Skystep potions work great.

nvm: they stop working after lvl 50
