Retribution Paladins Are the Most Popular DPS Class and It’s Not Even Close

Ret was always a popular spec even when it was bad.

Us doing great damage was just the icing on the cake.

Wish someone told me that when I started playing them 18+ years ago.

They have a great class fantasy, the problem is, they’ve been missing that fantasy for about a decade or more. I finally don’t feel like another warrior with some flashy stuff. My off heals are impactful and my utility is game changing for allies.

First time in a long time I didn’t dust off the paladin to be a healer as there were simply better healers for the past few expansions outside of certain seasons.

Players fotm rerolling is a core part of WoW culture.

That is the stupidest reasoning that I have ever heard! Why not make Arcane Mages better?? Bringing down one class/spec does Nothing for us.

You got something personal against ret paladins??

Huh. I had no idea aff locks were so low. I find them crazy fun. But then again I play casually and don’t raid or PvP or anything. I’m sure that’s what this chart is based off of.

But for solo play, they’re amazing. I can pull half the mobs in an entire area and burn them all down. The VW pet is a beast. :stuck_out_tongue:

to be fair, A hunk of loose concrete is more interesting than a prot warrior.

No, it’s because they were very OP, just saying. Before you reply, this character is always in Vengeance spec.

Good! Let the ret paladins enjoy having a powerful spec for once, at least before the nerfs come. It’s not like ret is regularly topping the pack and needs to have a scene made about this. Jeez people. Let them/us have some fun too.
Everyone knows nerfs are coming, so relax. It will even out. Crying about it is just unnecessary.

They will be ok after Tuesday. It was funny seeing Pally’s suddenly all willing to do WPvP after the patch hit. I didn’t even know they got reworked till I ran into a Pally who wouldn’t die the day of the patch. Then I knew something changed .

These numbers will be short lived. They always are.

Too bad it was the Golden Corral buffet. :face_vomiting:

He really shouldn’t since Paladins are . . .The Greatest of All Living Things ™

Top tier damage while being the easiest dps spec to play in the game.

Really wish they added more depth in the rework.

To be fair, a hunk of loose concrete also wouldn’t suffer the indignity of its class color being PINK.

And when you look at raiding, they had a spike, but are still behind BM hunters by a decent margin

Because it actually is fun to play instead of a clunky mess.

Imagine if they did that for every spec instead of “fixing” specs and making them trash to play.

We’re still under that old fashioned stereotype? :man_shrugging:

I saw this article:

And thought “Brotherhood of Knights of Chantilly Cream Whippers” would make an outstanding all-paladin guild name.

is dragonflight season one the first WoW season that you played?

there is always a meta… there are always flavor of the month classes…

the meta classes always changes. the only thing that doesn’t change is that there will always be a new, different class/spec as meta.

so ret paladin is meta now? ok… destruction lock was meta in season 3 of shadowlands.

prot paladin is meta now? ok… prot warrior was meta early season one DF and blood dk was meta season 3 and season 4 of shadowlands.

what’s your point?

They got a really fun overhaul. Even dusted off mine and leveled it after the updates. I’m sure their damage being OP added to the numbers.

Wouldn’t mind a smack of the nerf bat, as long as they leave the new playstyles alone.
