So another nice talent for Retribution that was pretty much exclusive to WotLK was the Righteous Vengeance DoT that was applied upon critical strikes with Judge, CS and DS. Is there any way we can get a rune for that talent for SoD? Preferably with the ability for the DoT to crit like the T9 set bonus allowed.
Also would like to request an extension on our Vengeance talent. It currently only last for 8 secs. Can we maybe get it to maybe 15+ secs? Having a difficult time keeping it up consistently in combat due to down time on crits occasionally.

Sure, I think it would add alot, especially if the crit procs triggered AOW, might be too strong though.

How? I crit every hit, or every other hit in raid, with mongoose and WB/wrath rune i have over 60% crit, even out in the world like 30%
I think Dual wield would be the best addition to Ret Paladin, it will give us diversity in weapon choices, a unique and new playstyle, and a efficient way to farm for crits that doesn’t involve weird one-off weapons.
I think if we get Dark Paladin/Death Knight in Phase 4 like Blizzard has been hinting we will, it could definitely turn out to be a dual wield spec. Where we sacrifice defense and healing others for offense and maybe some better self-healing.
Paladin dps does need to scale better in the form of Non-burst damage and more passive DPS. Righteous vengeance would be a nice addition.
Allowing the Vengeance talent to last longer such as 15 or 30 seconds would also be helpful.
Seal twisting in my opinion was a nice gesture, but not the ideal fix. Perhaps a rune that allow the paladin to just have two seals active would be a simpler fix.
Exorcism spamming is fun, but relying on fast weapons to get the procs, several runes to make exorcism optimal, just seems too much. We should adjust the way the procs activate, an internal cooldown etc and buff our damage in other ways (allowing to use hotr with 2h, or divine storm on a different item rune slot)
One of the coolest things I’ve heard so far was since Command is a talent, make it a passive proc or Omen of Clarity like self buff so you can use a different seal and occasionally 20% of the time proc a Seal of Command along with it.
And/or add Wild Strikes to Sanctity Aura to even out solo gameplay and help make us more desirable with our utility to groups, since Sanctity Aura is utterly selfish, benefitting only the Ret paladin and no one else, which is thus contradictory to the concept of group Auras.
Yes, exactly. Righteous Vengeance, with the ability for the DoT to crit would be a great addition to Ret’s dps. It’d be like having our own Deep Wounds DoT. It also wouldn’t be absurd in PvP as it’s a DoT and not burst.
Although for the more twisty types of Ret’s that spec into Martyr it would have to proc from another spell, other than DS and/or Judgement. Maybe Exorcism and Hammer of Wrath crits could also apply the DoT? Or possibly like a 10%-20% (similar to sword spec wars/rogues proc) chance to proc from normal weapon swing crits (white damage) In addition to the normal Judge/CS/DS applications that way either style of Ret can benefit from it equally. Maybe nerf the proc chance a bit (built into the DS rune) like cut the auto attack proc chance way down when using DS rune…. Idk…
I think that you’re all def right in your own way, I don’t see how we can lose being able to DW though. it will help us with the fast swing times and give us a fluid rotation, their not gonna give us wild strikes because then nobody would bring a feral.
I’m not talking about bringing Windfury you weirdo. I’m talking about our DoT being able to be applied through regular auto attack crits @ like a 10-20% chance to proc the DoT so that it works for Twisty Ret’s too that don’t have or use the normal attacks that applied the DoT in WotLK.
I.E.:
Righteous Vengeance: Your targets suffer Holy Damage equal to 30% of the damage done by your critical strikes from Judgement, Crusader Strike and Divine Storm over 8 secs. In addition all auto attack critical strikes (including seal damage procs) have a 10% or 20% chance to apply the Righteous Vengeance effect to your current target. Chance reduced to 5% if using Divine Storm rune.
Fanaticism or Consecration runes can grant the ability for Righteous Vengeance to be critical strikes.
