So I don’t do pet battles; I could never really get into it.
But today’s Shadowbarb hatchling quest is Retinus the Seeker, and as you can imagine, I can’t beat him. I muddled through the other pet battles for this with a team of lvl 1 pets, but that’s not working here.
Any advice to get through this would be very helpful. I don’t have many pets and surely don’t have many high level ones.
I’m some what lost on why we have to pet battle for a Mount so i gave up on it Blizzard can keep there damn mount.
It’s just one daily, skip it and do the next one tomorrow.
it doesnt skip the quest sorry it stayed with the same WQ for your info Mini…just swapped out my pets to see if it would unglitch after defeating the boss nope ive killed him 9 times already still cant move on and turn in quest WOW fix this game
Loxidar you can use lvl 1s so just buy lvl 1 guy I used thunterscale whelping for the tail sweep ability its super strong and then I used Emmigosa just to do damage and then used stormborne whelping for another tail sweep…my issue is the WQ is bugged cause Ive beat him 9 times already still cant turn in quest
Jihron, it sounds like you forgot that you need that Shadowbard pet in the line up of the three for that fight to complete that quest they had Tuesday.
u can’t skip the battle pet quests, you have to complete them to advance the quest. Its stupid and for people who don’t do battle pets it gets them so they cannot advance for the mount. Blizz should remove the requirement!

Ah so it is like the four Hatchling chains that rewarded mounts in Legion? That makes sense. You couldn’t do those without extensive pet battling either.
Well, Retinus is Magic so he is vulnerable to most elemental damage. My usual strat for him is to hit him with a Flock-type pet (that applies a double damage debuff) and then the second pet uses the Scorched Earth + Conflagrate combo that pumps him full of fiery goodness. The Shadowbarb can just sit back and watch, he only has to be on the team, not actually fight.
There are tons of pets that provide each of those attack types, and they are both staples of pet battling in general. Although, they typically are not available at level 1 so you will need at least partly leveled pets to use them.
If pet battling is required then it is an intended gate on the reward. Saying it is not fair because some people don’t pet battle is like saying it is unfair to put mounts on raid bosses because some people don’t raid. They spread rewards around deliberately to make us try other parts of the game.
