Retail Wintergrasp and access to the Vault of Archavon raid

Not expecting a blue response to this, and since nothing has changed since Wrath became obsolete, I’m not holding my breath anything will ever get done, but 'm going to voice my thoughts any way.

Is there any chance at all that Wintergrasp and the way you gain access to the Vault of Archavon will ever be changed in the retail version? Currently, as most know, your faction has to have control over Wintergrasp to get into the vault. However, since no one actually fights over WG in a meaningful way like it was done back during Wrath, you have to be lucky to find it available to your faction and even then because of the way that WG and vault access works, it locked the other faction out for, usually, extended periods of time unless you’re luck to come across people actually trying to take it back, which is almost never so it continuously stays under the control of one faction because if no one contests WG, is able to obtain high enough rank to be able to make a siege engine, break though the walls and then the door in 30min or less, whomever had control retains control… over and over and over, etcetera.

Why not make it so that either the faction control rotates on a normal basis, (i.e. the cool down of the area is 1 hour after a faction controls the vault plus the 30 min of the actual assault time, so say rotation time is 1 or 1.5 hours) or just leave access to the vault open for both factions at all times.

Since no one ever seems to be fighting over the zone anymore (at least from what I see when I go to try to run characters through the vault) and since Wrath is, what 15 years old, it’s probably time to just make it available to everyone all the time like other raids. Heck, WG has a BG queue now for those that want the original experience, but from what I’ve seen it sounds like it might need some fixing. /shrug

Thanks, appreciate any feedback… and hopefully a blue feedback.

P.S. Oh, forgot, might want to take a look at Tol Barad too, but I haven’t been paying much attention to that one so I t might be more active that WG, but 2 people in TB would make it more active than WG.

I think you can try shard hopping to find your faction controlled WG not 100% sure though

I have tried shard hopping a few times and it’s not always dependable. I’ve even swapped to War Mode On to see if that version might be controlled by my faction, and it’s basically the same coin toss. Shards rely on the amount of people in the version of the game you are in to break off a new one (from my understanding on how sharding works) and to create a new version, but Wrath is so old hardly anyone is there so it doesn’t always have enough people present to create a new shard or at least not as often to be able to maybe find a shard version with an available Vault open to my faction. It would be much easier to just open it for all, all the time, or at least on a rotational basis… in my humble opinion. Thanks for the input though.

I’m not sure about this, but are those appearances BoA? I know that any leather I collect on my Monk is available to my Druid (and vice versa). I’m not sure if this works cross-faction, but I’d imagine it would.

Anyway, what I’d suggest here, is make a Horde character and level it up. It’s super easy to do this and I don’t think you need much gear to farm VoA. Then you can just do it on whatever character is on the faction that controls it.

Again, I’m not 100% sure about this, but it could be an option.

I totally agree that older content, like really old content, should be more accessible. I’m mount farming and I told my husband this tonight, that it sucks for people who can’t get on all the time and the older content needs to be more accessible or have higher drop rates, or have less completion time in the event of quests. It just really bites when you can’t be on all day every day and can’t get any science/mounts/gear/xp. I mean, I pay for the subscription and expansions like everyone else but then I can’t get crap cause I have a life, a job and kids. They just need to make it a little easier for the casual players.
