I’ve been playing wow for 20 years and i just got to say classic raiding was so much more fun! Even the new raids in season of discovery are a blast. Today wow retail broke me i spent 6 hours grinding Tinder Sageswift heroic forming the group over and over again filling it with 480s and waiting to pull for buffs and summons and then dying to p2 seeds on the ground. Why does retail make there raids so hard! We need to go back to one difficulty with less punishing mechanics, like we litterly left one seed up and it wiped raid, why? It’s just terrible game design it takes 45 mins to get a party together just to wipe to one mistake, feels bad. I’ll be going back to sod now where i can be happy lol. After i get done laying down! I hope next expansion raiding will be better. The more time goes on retail just feels over complicated. Allow for your player base to have fun and stop designing for high end players.
I find that I can’t judge raiding by expansion, but by individual raid. Some were fun, some were not.
Molten Core was mind numbingly boring. Blackwing Lair wasn’t bad, but not my favorite. Ony’s Lair was mind numbingly boring. The AQs were okay, but way too long. ZG was fun to me.
This does not at all sound like a recipe for success.
K.
Subjective.
I think what you are actually saying is pugging retail raids sucks. And yes it does!
Ah, back in the good ol days when the majority of players would kill 2 bosses in a raid and that was all they’d ever see
A big problem is that people are buying runs now so you can’t tell who has actual experience with an encounter. I had a 480 DK doing less dmg than the tanks the other day on heroic Fyr. When we pointed that out, we were the bad guys. Kicked him and a couple others and the boss died.
This late in the season is tough. Most of the people that learned the raid have quit until next season.
Very good point.
I raid heroics and drinks all the beers to make sure I get the dps boost!
Guild groups in retail can suck too when half the roster hits their wall and the other half is capable of pushing further.
The play with friends vs push content crossroads has never been a fun pivot point in progression to me. Just my 2 cents.
Good point! But in sod pugging raids don’t feel this bad lol
Having multiple difficulties gives a wider variety of things to do for a wider variety of people.
If you like classic difficulty raids you could just do LFR and normal in retail.
Because classic raids tend to be overly simplified.
Its ok for people to like different things.
uh
no. this is a terrible idea.
instead, you need to just stick to LFR where everything is easy.
That’s like, your opinion, man.
DF’s Raiding has been the most fun I’ve ever had, except maybe Castle Nathria. That one was an absolute blast.
VotI and Amirdrassil are also a lot of fun. I don’t mind Aberrus but I’ve spent more time in the other two.
Isn’t SOD like a “retailed” classic ?
Pugging in SoD can result in spending more time staring at a bulletin board addon and occasionally talking in chat than it takes to finish the actual raid.
Phase 2 was probably worse. I never bothered to pug anything in phase 2 or level any of my alts. Phase 3 will probably also be terrible, especially on the non-megaservers (unless they turn xserver grouping on and finally turn the premade group finder on).
Are SoD raids locked to an ID like mythic retail?
Can you do a couple bosses with one group and then do a couple bosses with another group?
I genuinely don’t know the answer cause I don’t play SoD.
If it is locked and doesn’t allow you to freely swap between groups, that could be a reason why they don’t see the leaving after 1 wipe like retail heroic/normal does.
Being able to leave a group and instantly join another does tend to make it easier/less punishing to leave.
Yes, classic raidID is terrible for pugging, I hate it.
Nope.
While that may have a potential positive for fewer leavers, it also means you could easily have your weekly lockout wasted. I think retail’s system is 100x better for pugging.
Yes “just do normal” is a solution to the difficulty issue, but I have to say, doing normal in retail vs doing normal in classic is a completely different experience. Doing a raid mode that nobody respects or cares about with people’s ratty alts that constantly say things like “how are we wiping it’s NORMAL I am 7/9m” isn’t actually fun.
Pugging raids is not fun in retail, unfortunately, and it’s not going to be, even in normal. It would be best to join a guild or community.
I see your point but all the cool achievements and gear are tied to higher end raids. So we need a way of getting those, plus no one wants to admit they suck at a game they played for 20 years so they ram thier face against a wall until they hate the game they fell in love with lmao, speaking for a friend obviously. It’s a recipe for disaster.
Thanks for clearing that up.
