I’m a returning player. left at legion/Bfa. and played since Regular Classic. AND when i come into Retail in TWW this game is more confusing than it’s ever been. so much Crafting this and crafting that, Upgrading this, enchanting that. AND ALL different categories at that. NO Tutorials for ANYTHING. This game isnt New Player Friendly at All, & i feel bad for the new players having to spend days on Youtube just to know how to play a game. No wonder people leave retail and talk so bad about it.
What exactly do you need explained? There’s the dungeon journal to look up boss fights and general layout of raids/dungeons. You can easily look up on yotuube on how a fight goes in person.
I’m honestly feel like this is more ‘Retail bad because bad’ thread.
raids and dungeon boss fights aint nothing to do with it. been playing since classic i dont even gotta read them and ill know what to do with all my addons and weakauras.
There are introduction questlines for everything.
That’s how I learned to use the upgrade system and the new profession system.
I think what you’re looking for is a more in depth guide. And those are outside of the game. Always have been.
The profession system is more complex, but there are little pop ups to explain things. I haven’t turned on the in game tutorial in a while to know if it covers things like this or not.
ITs legit everything else. Every Profession. Stuff from Dragonflight is still added/brought over but alot of us never played DF. The pvp Crafting system. The upgrading your gear item level. i can keep going man, none of this is taught unless you go to youtube. and it shouldnt be that way
Professions are not even required. They are more confusing, but fairly intuitive. Everyone had to learn the new system, not just returning players.
yea pop ups that show 2-3 things then you are on your own??? i legit have the tutorial settings toggles on so it can tell me everything yet still doesnt
Had 4 friends come and go quickly. The game is no longer for them or myself. I solo what I feel like then log off or unsub until the next patch.
HUH ?! go tell that to a enchanter or alchemist. im sure if you were around the moment these came out, there was a very good guide for it all. Also im bouta make a Fresh character just to go Quest in Dragonflight so i can understand everything that got brought over to TWW.
Yes? That covers the basics. If you want more in depth, there are guides. That’s how things are in these games: they show you the basics and if you need more information, you go to other people and ask or you go to guides. It was the same way with the other MMORPGs I played.
Not in game, no. Just introductory quests to how it works and the pop ups.
I got help from guides and friends for the things that weren’t clicking for me.
Im not even bothering with professions to be honest. I did put in quite a few crafting orders in DF. The systems actually works well, but yes it is confusing. With crafting orders you can target which slot you want. Those pink triangle quests are the ones you are looking for. Some drops are needed as bop mats required to put in an order. There is also a weekly quest from your trainer that helps with skill up.
WoW has always been this way. The things you are complaining about are quite easy to learn and there are, as there always have been, a multitude of informational options outside the game to help learn whatever you are struggling with.
Exiles Reach, designed for new players, allows them a full tutorial walkthrough of how things work, gives them a basic understanding of their class, hands them bags and a little coin to start and then sends them straight to Chromie. The whole thing is linear railed story guideance.
As for “Returning” players, we all use WoWHead, Google, Icy-Veins, etc to figure out what is going on, what’s next, and what we have to do to get to endgame. I had 2 level 80s in the first 3 days of Early access with Pathfinder unlocked, had Loremaster and two more 80s just 7 days later, and unlocked Earthen 5 minutes after Alleria helped finish the last campaign quest.
This game has never been easier. Anyone who thinks this is “confusing” probably needs to go back to their PS5.
Exiles Reach is a nightmare for new players. Information is given out like drinking from a firehose. NPCs who have no backstory and that you will never see again, abilities added to you bar so quickly you never get a chance to understand them before the next set appear.
Most people don’t learn like that.
Then you are thrust into a fractured world where you need to talk to a little gnome (thats actually a bronze dragon that you have no idea what that means anyway) to get yeeted into a different timeline. Retail is an absolute poopshow for new players.
Can you show me where in game the prof stats like Perception, Inspiration, etc. are explained? “Put on this hat, gain +50 Perception” “Ok! Uh…why would I want that?”
Exiles reach has the trilogy of learning tools. Visual, audible, and kinesthetic. You see it, you hear it, and you do it. Anyone who cannot learn the absolute minimum basics of WoW from that sandbox tutorial environment should likely find a new game.
Let’s face it. If there are new players in WoW, it is because someone dragged them in here, just as our friends did to us. So they know at least one person, probably in Discord, helping them get set up. If this were not true, this forum would have 100:1 of “New player here” threads compared to “Mythic complainer here” threads.
I see you haven’t posted in the new players forum. Give that a shot.
Happy to, highlight (put your mouse over) the word perception ( or any other word you would like explained to you) in the statistics section of your profession journal.
When you mouse over the stat it explains what the stat is.
They got ya covered before I got back! And to be fair, I’ve had to share that with guildies, as well. Hehe
