[Retail] Hardlocked nameplate distance at 60 yards

Hi all.

Does anyone know if this nameplate distance issue is going to be rectified at some point? We’ve been hardlocked to 60 since patch 8.2.5 when Blizzard fixed the distance for Classic. No matter how many times I try CVar scripts to set it to 40, it won’t change anything.

Also, is there plans to change how nameplates are shown through floors/roofs?

No idea, they haven’t mentioned anything.

The irony of course is that now in BC Classic, you can change the distance between 20 and 41 yards. So, the cVars are working again there. Hopefully, that means they’ll start working again in retail at some point in the future.

That’s just it, they broke Retail’s nameplate distance in patch 8.2.5 by fixing things on Classic. I don’t think they intended the fix on classic to affect things on retail?

Nothing has been said about retail yet. This massive issue needs more attention because it’s been going on for far too long.

I believe the CVar you’re looking for is “nameplateOccludedAlphaMult”. Not exactly sure how it works but I use my Threat Plates addon to adjust it and make nameplates invisible when I’m not in line of sight from them.

@Goblane

I checked my CVar settings in my AdvancedInterfaceOptions addon, and Plater had apparently changed that value to “1” at some point when I was testing things in november, now I changed it back to the default value of “0.4”, still no change though.

I also checked my settings in Tidy Plates to see if that had a similar setting like your Threat Plates had with hiding plates out of line of sight, got nothing. :frowning:

@Treizeeu

I used the transparency setting in my Threat Plates to make mine invisible when not in line of sight. Try look for something like that.
