I’m so tempted to buy shadowlands so I can get a taste of retail feral. Being able to have a few different mog options is pulling me in. Plus I hear feral might be looking decent for 9.2? Plus I want to do some retail arenas….
So…. Tempted……
problem is that I haven’t played since the beginning of BFA. Worried that it’ll be too overwhelming for me and too much of a grind.
Should I go for it?
Ultimately it depends on the type of content you want to do. If it involves end-game content, I would wait. Otherwise jump right on in!
The reason I say wait for end-game is because our AoE potential is pretty much dead last when compared to others. We had a very promising tier set and they nerfed its damage by a whopping 65% (due to bugs) about 2 days ago, and this effectively fixed our AoE issue… to a point. We’re strongly hoping to be compensated with something.
Can always level one up and try out the PvP end of things. Then that way if they do want to do anything else in 9.2, they’re already leveled and half way geared
Feral is straight forward to learn, but difficult to master. I didn’t have a problem picking it up and I had not played since WoD. And the most basic core elements haven’t changed.
The overwhelming thing is learning all the other class’s abilities. All their cooldowns and how to respond BUT if you use weak auras the dk Mes made a huge weakaura string that includes every major offensive and defensive cooldown and will track them in a very digestible way. It’s a good way to learn.
The grind is not bad nowadays. Grinding honor to upgrade gear is still a pain but getting conduits and conquest gear and sockets… it’ll maybe take you a week or so. Not terrible.
That sounds very noob friendly, I like it! So how do weakauras work? I’ve never used them but I always hear about it. I’m not trying to alter my UI or anything. I like the normal thing.
It’s going to change your ui a bit but I think it’ll be worth it.
To use it, just download the add on WeakAuras then go to this link https : //wago. io/J2eFIGoag and install that into the addon…
If you have ever used Deadly Boss Mods it’s very similar in effects and ui to that.
I’d highly suggest using it for at least a week or two cuz otherwise you are going to get hit for 10 bijillion damage and have no idea why. With this, the weak aura will flash or make a noise when the cooldowns are used and you’ll be able to recognize when and why you are getting hit so you can react appropriately next time.
Perfect. This will be especially useful when I inevitably go resto Druid because I’ll find partners faster lol… that’s what happened to me during Legion. Played rdru/disc/Mweaver since it just took too long to get games as dps.
Although I do want to pursue the Feral Snupy dream of course
Ferals just been gutted and totally destroyed for high key mythic dungeons. But this is normal.
But if you enjoy raiding and pvp feral has something to offer you.
Everyone’s mentioning m+ when this guy is wanting to pvp…
Feral is one of the best melee classes in pvp right now. I’m not sure how things will pan out as I’ve only really paid attention to feral and not other specs, but we’re getting a bit stronger in 9.2, doesn’t mean other specs won’t surpass us by a margin.
Generally though, if you’re going to play feral you’re playing it because it’s feral, not because it’s good. As mentioned, feral is amazing in pvp, but even if you want to pve, there are still plenty of ferals with cutting edge and/or keystone master. It’s unlikely you’ll be in the top 1% in m+, but you can still do high enough to enjoy the spec. Granted, I’m right around 2100 rating and am in the top 1.2k ferals in the world…which is a testament to how weakly represented we are. That being said, always good to see more people wanting to invest into the spec.
that doesnt sound accurate. i agree with you on the rest, but thats not top 1200 world… i could see NA maybe… but not entire globe.
raider .io/characters/us/bonechewer/Angeliqe?utm_source=client
Scroll down and look at spec ranks, that’s what I’m looking at. If I go to raider .io/mythic-plus-spec-rankings/season-sl-2/world/druid/feral/60#content however it’s a different story, I’m assuming because the score isn’t entirely aggregated from feral runs independently. It’s still a fairly skimpy representation regardless.
Had to break up the links because my break caused me to lose trusted status I guess…
OH MY BAD.
lol you meant you were around 2100 in mythic+, i am so sorry. i misunderstood and thought you meant 2100 IN ARENA was top 1200 ferals in the world. im like… naaaaah that doesnt feel right. okay. sorry, i goofed this one.
Ahh, lol, indeed, feral has much higher representation in pvp because of how good it performs. That comment was directed towards m+ which is what we are looked at for being weak at. I did, however, get 1400 in season 1 without even having a lego as feral if that’s any indication of how good the spec is and I’m not even in to pvp. Force a trinket, stun, convoke, dead. Stupid stupid.
yeah no it was on me. 2100 is definitely high in arena, but not top 1200 in the world. my bad, i just brain farted and goofed.
You goofball! I think ultimately I’m going to stay away from SLands, I’ve decided. Just don’t want to pay for it. Especially since I have no friends who play. I have a few who play TBC, and while TBC has some things I don’t like, it still gives me experience to learn and I can play with my friend.
Although MAN does feral look fun in retail.
Oh well. Maybe 10.0.
It’s definitely not worth paying for the most recent expansion if you aren’t going to play the content. My advice would be to wait for the .5 patch and then hop in. You’ll be behind, but the cross faction grouping should make finding groups infinitely easier to do so even if you don’t have friends, you can still hop into a pug and play. They are also adding a solo queue for pvp, which they are testing out in 9.2 and hopefully have by 9.2.5.
If you want a good feral - stick around for wotlk classic
Its a game, stop worrying!
Oh man, memories of WOTLK are what keeps me in feral
Back in the days of armor pen!
mmmmm
