I wonder if it would be possible if Blizzard could make a tool that let’s players transfer gold on their accounts from Retail to Classic, vice versa. Just keeping it the same value. I understand if you have a ton of gold on Retail you wouldn’t be able to transfer that much into Classic but they could keep it the same value. So like 300k in retail would be like 12k in Classic.
That will never work
Buy the tokens in classic to convert to gold
It’s technically possible, but inconvenient currently. You have to buy 2 retail tokens (your retail gold for 30 dollars of bnet balance) and then sell a token on classic (your bnet balance for their classic gold).
I guess technically they could turn their retail gold into a token, turn that into battlenet currency, and buy the classic token that way
It would be pretty easy to implement.
Player A gives retail gold to player B in retail token sale
Player C gives classic gold to player D in classic token sale
In this case, player A is also player D. So they need to give their retail gold to someone and get classic gold from someone. So, player A should list a WoW token for player B to buy, and then, instead of giving any bnet balance or sub time to player A, list a classic token for player A on their classic account, and then when player C buys that token, send player D the classic gold. Blizz would still get the cut since player B paid 20 and player C (or whoever is final if this transaction loops again) gets 15 dollars worth of sub or gametime.
They won’t do this though because they currently get 2 cuts
While some people think it is possible, technically, it is actually not possible. And the simple reason is, both are just different games.
Probably vastly different economies.
I make way more gold in retail than classic. Prices would skyrocket in classic
A few world quests would be more than the average Classic player would ever see. Inflation on the Classic servers would be insane.
I learned just how different things are in 2019 classic release having only played retail.
Having 40 gold felt like 40,000 gold by comparison
