Retail and classic in different locations?

I don’t play Classic much since soon after it came out, but I still want the opportunity. But my C: drive (and SSD), is low enough on disk space that while I had Retail loaded before it was released, there weren’t any issues, but Classic caused me to run into space problems.

Is there a way to have Retail and Classic on two different drives?

Hey Fortuna,

Retail and Classic folders share a “Data” folder that they both use to run the game. While it may be possible to use two separate install locations, it’s not recommended since you would also need to duplicate the Data folder which in turn requires more storage space overall.

The _Classic_ folder itself should be very small depending on how long you’ve been playing and how many addons you have. For example my folder for Classic is only 226 MB and Retail is 258 MB, whereas the Data folder (shared between both classic and retail) is 69.4 GB.

If you do need to move a game to a different drive, I do highly recommend moving both Classic and Retail instead of just one of them.

Hope the info helps. Cheers!

Thanks. A little research into folder size confirmed that that’s what I was afraid of.

Oh well. I just miss the insta-loading I had when it was on my SSD.
