Ret, when should I spend holy power?

Should I spend it as soon as I can or should I wait until it’s full, don’t want to be min-maxy just want to be able to play my class.

Generally you want to use spenders when you’re not going to waste Holy Power using HP generators. That’s the basic rule of thumb. Obviously using a generator at 5 Holy Power is a huge waste, but it can also be kind-of a waste to use a generator at 4 if you have Blade of Justice available, for example. It’s pretty situational and kind-of like gambling in some situations on how Art of War will proc or not.

Crusader Strike isn’t a high damage ability so its main use is for filling gaps; pretty much every other DPS ability is preferable to using Crusader Strike (except Consecration, which I think should generate HP too but whatever).

So I use a spender at 3-5 hp? I guess it’s no point in using crusader strike at 4 hp? Should I use cs at 3 hp or just use a spender?

If you got no better generator to push and you’re not at the very end of a major cooldown where a spender is better used during buff time, then Crusader Strike is fine at 3-4 hp. You want to use it for filling gaps, because it is pretty weak on its own.

During avenging wrath should I use my spenders at 3 hp or as soon as they’re available?

The objective of using at 4-5 hp is so that judgment and blade of wrath are always on cd as they are around 10s depending on haste. Also, you want to get that judgement buff in before spending whenever possible.

The only time I go for 3hp spends is during execution sentence and trying to get as many in before it hits.

Like I said, it’s situational. During Final Reckoning and Execution Sentence, you want to use as many spenders as possible regardless of how much HP you have. If it’s any other time during Avenging Wrath, you’ll want to have your HP generators on cooldown as much as possible without wasting HP, generally.

Blizz needs to go ahead and make Divine storm FREE, but with a CD. and make Consecration generate HP and do more dmg. then ret would feel GOOOOOOD.

In general, you want to prioritize generating over immediate spending as soon as you are able, since that actually results in more overall spending, but as others have said; it’s situational.

As its available.

If Templar verdict or divine Strom is available for use, which is at 3 holy power, there will never be a situation where you want to hit crusader strike.
Crusader strike is so low in dmg its just there to generate more holy.power for your foly power spenders.
Which really sucks because back in the day, crusader strike was our main damage ability.
Really sucks that it’s worthless now.

No empyrean power talent for aoe burst I try to have atleast 1 charge on cd.

If you can put a holy power generator on cooldown without going over 5 go do that. If not spend.

Spend it when you either have no HP generator to cast, or your HP generator is going to generate HP above your 5 cap. (Ie Blade of Justice at 4 HP would cause you to waste 1HP)

The only time that you really break the above rule is if you have 4 HP and only Crusader Strike available with only 1 charge.

In this case you still use your HP spender first before continuing with the above rule.

Hopefully that helps and isn’t too poorly worded.

That is only really true if you already have one charge of Crusader Strike on cooldown.
As you said yourself CS is only to generate more HP which is why you always want your HP generators to be refreshing their cd.

If you can generate HP and have both charges of CS available you are wasting any spent GCDs of HP recharge whilst they are not on cd.
This changes when you have only 1 charge due to how the game only recharges one cd at a time for abilities with a charge cap.
