Ret paladin while improved, still suffers the same issues it did before. The issue is Ret doesn’t bring anything to a group that a holy or prot doesn’t also bring, while being significantly worse at its role than prot and holy are at their roles. I don’t know if maybe Ret should have its own blessing. Or maybe even give them skills that share cool down with the utility spells. For example a long self buff that shares a cool down with lay on hands. Personally i feel like the later option fits the Ret paladin class fantasy more, but hey I’m not a game designer. I just know that as it stands right now Ret is improved yes, but it didnt actually address the biggest issues.
I love Esfand and stuff but maybe bringing in streamers for their opinions isn’t always the best. Getting a group was the biggest issue for a regular Ret, that is never going to be the issue for a guy like Esfand.
Yes I understand they are improved, but that doesn’t mean you’re still not a fall back option to prot or holy. ..and that’s IF you even want two.
Do tell me about this Ret “strong and cheap AoE that other classes don’t have”. I know you don’t mean consecrate, which costs an unsustainable amount of mana, and only looks like it does decent damage because everyone is level 20-30. It’s so satisfying pressing consecrate and watching auto swing.
May aswell remove Warlock rain of fire/hellfire, Mage blizzard/ Cone of cold / Arcane explosion / Flamestrike, Hunter Multishot / Explosive trap / Volley, Warrior Whirlwind / Thunderclap, Sweeping Strikes / cleave, Rogue - Blade flurry, Shaman - Chain lightning, magma/fire totem, Druid - Swipe / Hurricane. - Let’s not forget that some of these ‘AoE abilities are actually very strong against a single target also.
Solid argument bro, you’re right, no other classes have AoE. Definitely not a bias comment against Ret Paladin because you most likely dislike the class. Show me where the Ret Paladin bubble killed you.
Esfand loves this idea of “TBC twisting Ret” paladin because he is always supported by great guilds who funnel him best in slot gear and feed into his streamer privilege. Ofcourse he had a great time raiding TBC content.
I honestly have nothing against streamers and their success, but it is a definite privilege some of them have access to which comes with popularity.
Now he gets to use that privilege to persuade the devs how Ret should be designed.
Ive been a rogue for my entire classic journey. Finally had enough of it after the devs said rogue white damage (aka auto attacks) is the primary source of damage and they cant do much else to the class without taking something away from it. So then i rolled a ret pally and my god this class is damn near refined and perfect. Every talent is important, impactful and meaningfull in all 3 trees. You can really see Aggrend’s influence as he mains a pally.
Clearly they dont give a f about it. Rogues bring nothing.
Pallys get blessings, auras, ressurection and great dps in both single target and aoe.
