Ret PvP Damage

I could have sworn some of the ret buffs meant for PvE were not supposed to carry over in PvP, yet they went from nothing into hammerheads targeting classes that had their self-sustain destroyed (cough, dk, cough)

Was this intentional? I’m all in favor in buffing rets and other classes, but they are a bit over-tuned at the moment in PvP with the latest hotfix that went live this past Tuesday.

Also please fix DS. Barely grants us 6% health as a base cast.

Ahh the game has come full circle, the hunted becomes the hunter!

Their burst was always way over the top. The only reason we are seeing more of them now is due to nerfs to some FoTM specs along with minor buffs to rets builder abilities.

People hopped off their Spriests and DH’s and back onto their ret.

Ret literally needs to be redesigned. No one likes the Legion-era wheelchair spec that globals you if it gets in range or flops when bubble is down.

Bring back WoD-era Empowered Seals, the most skillful and enjoyable ret has ever been. Scrap Divine Steed, bring back Long Arm.

I’m fine with tuning ret to make them more competitive, but from what I have seen every “tuning pass” results in overkill.

Spriest gets targeted all the time now in PvP, Ret becomes god mode, DK does good dmg yet can’t self-sustain when focused by the entire team, Fury self-sustain hasn’t been touched and needs a realistic tuning pass, and the list goes on.

I fully understand that it’s impossible to tune everyone perfectly, yet those that ended up with the short stick (self-healing, damage, etc.) literally need immediate attention. Lets not destroy PvP with these radical changes when we’re about halfway through the season.

I skipped WoD, but I’ll take your word for it.

Let me just have a month of this version of ret so I can get the magneto elite set, thank you

Fair point. The changes overall though are generally way miscalculated and often targeting bugs that haven’t been addressed. PvP is where a lot of the mistakes in abilities are often ignored thus creating this weird dynamic of “lets up dmg in pve where it’s needed, yet lets ignore how this really impacts PvP gameplay.”

Enjoy your moment. I have big doubts things will be fixed before the end of the season the way thing are being tuned for PvP

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but rets don’t kill dks. You’re far more likely to see nerfs to DK before you do ret as it stands. The damage in PvP hasn’t changed. There was a 15k damage boost every one minute, and boost to builders that did like 3-15k damage. You’re not dying to rets this week that you wouldn’t die to last week. DK is the strongest in the game, and a super hard counter to ret.

those crusader and blades of justice are just murdering everyone out there. this patch was an abomination. i saw a crusader strike hit more than an auto attack. this is ridiculous, it’s a builder.

do people not read patch notes? lol

What devout said. The buffs to ret were mostly on their filler abilities like crusader strike which was literally hitting for auto attack damage. So 45% increase made it do about 8k damage which you could compare to Slam for warrior. The only buff that made a difference, as he said was about 15k dmg every minute with final reckoning. The way Rets are designed right now if they dont have big burst they would be useless. They do need an overhaul and a rework but I doubt we’ll see that anytime soon. I do find it so funny though that people see these “buffs” or “nerfs” and go off the deep end thinking that’s why they died this patch. Negligible changes. I mean, they buffed fire mage 3x and its still dog water.

It doesn’t matter, in a few week the FOTM will reroll to Ret War again.

Ret was not an underdog because of damage. He was an underdog due to low survivality. I do hope they buffed a few skills to nerf others in the future like they did with shadow priest.

Dispellable defensives and low mobility. Just makes Ret a much easier kill target than a lot of other classes.
