Hey all, I just started playing Ret and I am wondering what the second best weapon would be for mythic plus. I understand the legendary from raid will be best, but I don’t raid so I’m looking for the next best thing. I have Bullion saved up so I can buy other raid weapons from the vendor if I need to.

it’s worth it to grind Fyraak and get the Axe, it’s really not that hard. You should be doing awakened LFR anyway for Tier pieces.
Nothing compares to the Axe for Ret its like a 20% increase in dps. In the meantime maybe Gorehowl from Dawn or Smolderon’s Sword (also raid)?

I am going to try to get in some groups today. I just read that even if this thing drops you cant equip it right away?? I will have to do a quest or something to be able to use it? Do you know if this is true?

Agreed but players like myself who really can’t get the chance to do raids are somewhat screwed. My guild hardly does raids so I need to find a new one. And from what I’ve heard, it’s only worth doing the Heroic raid because all other raid percentage drops for the axe is abysmal compared to Heroic.
Yes that’s true. When you equip the axe it starts a quest to make a handle that you can hold and doesn’t light you on fire. Unfortunately it’s also a gold sink depending on Mats you have and AH prices its around 500-300k to put it together.
Save all rousing and awakened elements you get, also farm spores in Zarlek Caverns. Shadowflame essences are the other expensive mat that drops from raid. keep them if you’re planning on the lego.

They’ll be lucky to see it drop before TWW launches. It’s not a 20% dps increase. It’s an 8% increase.

On the way to the raid axe, honor gear is super easy to get and there is a weapon, upgradable pretty easy, and the additional deterministic acquisition conquest weapon if you can be bothered to earn 1800 conquest. What is actually second best is probably a very high item level mythic plus item, but you would have to do high enough M+ and hope that it drops.

You’re not bursting at the right time then. It’s still 10% if I completely F up my rotation.
It’s about 8% for a fully optimized rotation.

If your weapon effect is 15% of your damage you are not pressing the other buttons correctly and losing a lot of damage overall. I’d look into that. A
